Clean vs. Vegan

What is the difference between clean and vegan products? I have searched this on Google, but I am still confused.

Re: Clean vs. Vegan

The explanation is great, but I would recommend you to recheck products on these points on the special website and also the product composition. Brands often use these marks as a marketing strategy, unfortunately. I'm doing animal cruelty essays here https://happyessays.com/free-essays/animal-cruelty/ now and I realized it so fast when I checked only a few products... So just spend a few minutes checking it if you are really interested in buying cosmetics from responsible brands.

Re: Clean vs. Vegan

@PaigeElaine022 "clean" is not really a defined term. Sephora uses the following definition " clean at Sephora is a curation of brands committed to evolving the beauty industry. When you see our Clean seal, you can be sure this brand's products are formulated without certain ingredients that are potentially harmful to human health and the environment and also address ingredients clients are concerned about, including phthalates, formaldehyde or formaldehyde releasers, oxybenzone and octinoxate, hydroquinone, triclosan, coal tar, methylisothiazolinone and methylchloroisothiazolinone, insoluble plastic microbeads, and more."

But basically, it is important to remember Clean is not a defined industry term, any brand can put it on their product and it won't mean the same thing for every brand.

Vegan means there are no animal derivatives in the products. Cruelty Free means the cosmetics have not been tested on animals. Many people would assume Vegan also encompasses cruelty free, but if it's important to you, I'd look for both terms.

Re: Clean vs. Vegan

Hi @PaigeElaine022. Just to add to @Kim888's great explanation, not all vegan and/or cruelty-free products are clean and vice versa. For example, some ingredients that are labeled as clean are not vegan, such as beeswax, and some vegan ingredients, like parabens, have potential health risks. Hope that helps 🙂
