How necessary is eye cream for day-use?

@missaa8  Depends on your particular skin. If your full face moisturizer isn’t doing a good job around your eyes, that’s when you’d consider adding an eye cream (or facial oil under your eyes, or just using 2 or more layers of your usual moisturizer under your eyes). Also, certain eye creams and serums can help reduce puffiness, though a cold compress can also do that job. Folks trying to reduce some types of hyperpigmentation and/or wrinkles around their eyes might consider an eye cream that contains a form of vitamin A (retinol, retinaldehyde, etc.), though there are also serums for that purpose. 

I usually just layer my full face moisturizer around my eyes. In the winter, when my undereye skin gets excessively dry, I use a petrolatum balm (Aquaphor in my case, but CeraVe Healing Ointment or Vaseline also works) as an eye cream under my eyes for maximum moisturization. When I need to reduce puffiness, I use a cold compress: either a cold washcloth or some cold object ( SEPHORA COLLECTION Under-Eye Roller is a new favorite, and I also still use the steel applicator from an old bottle of Lancôme Advanced Génifique Yeux Light-Pearl™ Eye Serum 0.67 oz / 19.8 mL ) works well for me. If puffiness is allergy related, I take an antihistamine pill.

I have an oily T-zone, in general, @WinglessOne, and conventional retinols usually cause more harm than help on my skintype.

I like the viscosity of Biossance 100% Sugarcane Squalane Oil 3.4 oz / 100 mL and have been using that almost everywhere (especially under eyes).
