Pregnancy-safe skincare and makeup recs?

I need LEGIT (proven safe, confirmed by scientists/medical personnel) pregnancy-safe skincare and makeup.

RE: Pregnancy-safe skincare and makeup recs?

I would stick to the clean at Sephora sealed items. Best to not have chemicals that could cause hormonal reactions. I love origins, they have been clean and safe for years! Tarte for make up.

Itโ€™s so hard to get scientific evidence because not everything approved for cosmetics is even tested to be pregnancy safe. I try to use clean beauty only products and avoid anything with salicylic acid and retinol. I am in my third pregnancy and have had no issues. I buy my skincare and makeup at Sephora but Lush is a great place for pregnancy and breastfeeding safe body products.

@HannyUsh I am currently 26 weeks pregnant and had the same concern you had. I talked to my OB about it and she gave me a blanket statement of โ€œanything topical is fineโ€ which was not really okay with me. I really like her as a Dr. but she just didnโ€™t understand the extent of my skin care and makeup routine. I did a lot of my own research and also found this website: https://www.15minutebeauty.com/pregnancy-skin-care-guide It is an extremely comprehensive list of skin care and makeup up products that goes through what is safe and not safe. I donโ€™t use it as an end all be all but it definitely helps guide me in the right direction. It also has every product/ brand on there you can think of, I have yet to took up something that is not on there. She breaks it down by category (foundation, primer, skin care, etc) then by brand. She then lists what is safe for pregnancy, safe for nursing but not pregnancy, and not safe for pregnancy or nursing. She also explains why something is not safe and provides a link to the product so you can double check the picture to make sure it is the same item you are referencing. There are also some good articles she wrote about certain skin care ingredients to avoid in pregnancy and why. Like I said, this is not my end all be all lost but it is an extremely helpful place to start!

@HannyUsh I would ask your OB or do a lot of your own research.

I have been pregnant twice and tried to use products that were pregnancy safe but itโ€™s really hard unless you spend the time and analyze every single product/ingredient with a microscope to be 100% sure.  Or unless you want to hand make your own products so you know exactly what you are using.
