I always come back to Rare Beauty's powder highlighters. some people have had problems with them breaking, but the only time mine has broken when I literally dropped it on the floor. If you apply it with a large powder brush you get that beautiful diffused non-stripy look. It’s just beautiful and it comes in several colors. my favorite color is the champagne one. I wanna say it’s called illuminate but it’s one color darker than the white. It goes with everything. But the other shades are lovely as well. I’m pretty sure I have all of them. 😇❤️

I would recommend the benefit highlighter in cookie! It’s such a beautiful glow and I’ve gotten so many compliments!

My all time favourite is MERIT Day Glow Dewy Highlighting Balm Cava . It gives such a natural glow. It looks like my own skin- just shinier and healthier. I layer that with Saie Mini Glowy Super Gel Lightweight Dewy Multipurpose Illuminator for extra shine. 

I tried a lot of others (like rare beauty) but they never worked for me since they almost looked cakey/ashy on me.

Preference wise, are you looking for something subtle or blinding?

You can also brighten areas with concealer one shade lighter than your foundation or with powder that compliments your undertone (yellow/orange can be neutral warm, pink can be cool/neutral, lavender cool, etc etc) such as PAT McGRATH LABS Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Blurring Under Eye Powder Pink or ONE/SIZE by Patrick Starrr Ultimate Blurring Setting Powder .  Anna Sui, not sold here, also makes one that's cooling, good for high heat.

Some products can also be layered or mixed in for a highlight or glow:

Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Positive Light Liquid Luminizer HighlightThese are similar to Dior, but a bit more sparkly.. Some of them are more subtle than others, like flaunt and transcend.  Really depends on the shade and your shade, honestly

Armani Beauty Fluid Sheer Glow Enhancer Highlighter.. This is the most subtle highlight, I have swatched it twice, never loved it because against my skin tone it blends out soooooo light - no matter the color, there's nothing distinguishable IMO. BUT, for someone who likes a subtle look, this is it.  (I love a blinding highlight personally)

Powders are usually more intense, but the Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Demi'Glow Light-Diffusing Highlighter are pretty mild IMO.  I also amp them up using a powder puff, for mild/soft highlight application, a brush will do

Benefit Cosmetics Mini High Beam Liquid Face Highlighter High Beam.. if I remember this correctly, it is blinding but I think it can probably be sheered out with another liquid complexion product (concealer) to get it to a milder level
