Blush

Hi, i would like to know wich Blush is your fav and why? I hesitate between hour glass and tarte blushes. Ps pardon my english i’m a french canadian 🙂

Re: Blush

Hi @mpl7,

I love that you asked this question. Most people focus on highlighter and eye shadow palettes, when blush is so underrated. Blush is such a makeup essential. I use it everyday to add a natural glow to my face. I've been using BareMinerals Blush in Golden Gate for years. It's that pretty, soft peachy warm glow.

We cannot have a conversation about blush without talking about NARS blushes, which are incredible. I really like NARS - Blush - Dolce Vita for my olive skin tone. Lovejoy is also a great natural shade for olive gals.

Stay Gorgeous,

Penelope

Re: Blush

Two of my favorite blush are actually those brands! HOURGLASS - Ambient Lighting Blush Collection - Incandescent Electra and TARTE - Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush - Exposed. I have fair skin so a lot of blush are too dark or bright to work well for me. The tarte blush has a firmer texture and is a more matte finish. This one I can get a bit more heavy-handed with without worry about looking like a clown or like I rolled out of the 80's. The Hourglass blush is the one I reach for the most. I also have Diffused Heat, which is nice especially in the summer/fall when my skin's not as pale, but Incandescent Electra is my HG blush. The formula is smooth and leaves a nice glow to my skin since it's got a bit of shimmer in it. It's super fine, so don't worry about it looking like glitter. A little goes a long way with it as well. Unlike with the tarte blush though, it can look a little crazy if I use too much. I tend to use a fluffy angled brush, a tap or two into the pan, and it goes on like a dream.

Re: Blush

@mpl7

I use either Tarte or Nars. I find Nars ti have a wider colour selection but Tarte for me blends better. My favourite Nars blush is Impassioned and my favorite Tarte blush is Dollface.

@BrendaBT apparently some UD names prohibit tagging 😂   These brands with their edgy names...smh.

Re: Blush

I have and like both blushes from Tarte and Hourglass! Hourglass blushes tend to be on the shimmery side, so it really does depend on the finish you prefer. Blushes from both brands are pigmented and blend easily, but I think the Tarte blushes are a little softer. I do really like the more luxurious Hourglass packaging, though.

Re: Blush

@mpl7 I love Tom Ford Love Lust.  It is the perfect coral blush that you can wear anytime.  I also love Chantecaille Emotion blush if you want a pinky blush with a little shimmer.  Both are super pigmented, look great on the skin and last for hours.

Re: Blush

I really love Tarte blushes and it always surprises me how natural they look on the skin.

Re: Blush

I’m a NARS powder blush fan. They have such a nice range of shades and finishes (matte or shimmer), people of all skin tones are sure to find at least a couple that beautifully suit them. They’re easy to apply and blend. When you find the shades that work for you, they have good color payoff that lasts all day.

I have 7 NARS single blushes in corals, apricots, pinks, berries, and a bold red. I sometimes use one of them (Taj Mahal, an orange coppery shimmer) as a highlighter/brightener. I used to rarely wear blush, but I’ve worn these a lot this year.

My favorite cream/liquid blushe is Glossier Cloud Paint. I have 2 shades and they’re both easy to apply and blend, with great pigmentation. I don’t wear them as often as the NARS powder blushes (I just prefer powders), but I do get some use out of them.

Re: Blush

@mpl7 I like both Hourglass blushes and Tarte blushes! Tarte is a little more affordable and Hourglass looks and feels so lux. I find Tarte has more matte options too, so it depends on the finish you’re looking for. I also like Becca blushes.

Re: Blush

@mpl7 No problems in understanding you at all. I’m a big fan of NARS blushes. They are very pigmented so you need only a touch to brighten your cheeks. And they last forever — I’ve had some for years. The colors are very sophisticated too. Check out some of their blush palettes. A little pricey, but you probably won’t need to get another blush for a very long time!
