Easy Eyebrows

I want to start filling in my eyebrows, but have never done it before. I have had others fill in my brows though and I never enter anything new without researching the heck out of it first!! So, I have watched about 25 YouTube how-to videos, and read hundreds of reviews on the various products to use. So now, my question is that I was convinced that I would need to purchase a brow pencil/liner, a brow pomade/filler, a brush and gel. Last night I went in for a color match of the ABH dipbrow and was told that all I really needed was the dipbrow and brush. That I didn’t need the rest. Excited to hear I didn’t have to purchase the gel for “the look” as I really can’t stand the way brow gel feels when on, but was confused that I didn’t need the brow pencil as my step 1. Every video I have watched says it’s the easiest way to start by marking out your brows and then filling them in with dipbrow as step 2. Any advice out there?? I have pretty full brows and do not need to extend the length, just feel like filling them in slightly where I feel they look a bit sparse. Like near the bridge of my nose, and helping define the shape. Also for color, they are suggesting I go with Dipbrow in Dark Brown. Will this be right, or too dark??? And then which brow pencil color do I use, if you suggest a brow pencil is a necessity??

Re: Easy Eyebrows

I'm going second @Aaliaa. It looks like you've already got great thick brows and the dipbrow/brush combo is probably a little extra, especially for every day looks. If you're going full glam/gala/lots of photos, then I can see stepping up your brows with dipbrow/pomade/concealer etc. For every day though, I'd go with a pencil, powder, or maybe even something like Glossier Boy Brow.

My brows are sadly not as full and gorgeous as yours. I generally use ABH Brow Wiz or Diorshow Brow Styler as my everyday go-to. Hair-like strokes to fill in the front, then similar to @Aaliaa's method, outline an actual line below or above my brows/arches to define the shape. I'll soften the line and blend through the rest of my brows with the spoolie or if I've got my makeup bag with me, my Wayne Goss eyebrow brush. Extra fill with short strokes for any remaining gaps/empty spots. Done!

For a special occasion, or more dramatic/oomph brow, I'll follow up this process with the WG brush and some brow powder. Powder looks more natural on me than dipbrow or similar pomade products, and using it on top of the brow wiz sets everything into place. I color my hair all the time, so for color, I've got quite a range but somehow, they all work at any given time, as long as the color base is cool (my undertone) and not too dark.

Thanks @MissPuff. Do you recommend a particular brow powder to use??

Re: RE: Re: Easy Eyebrows

@KrishAtl Mine too! Like @gonerogue, I'm a fan of the brow duo also, having two shades ensures a great match. I've actually got two duos, Granite and Ash Brown and they work great alone with just a brush or on top of the brow wiz.

Thanks @gonerogue. I assume you can just set it with a finishing spray, same like rest of face?

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: Easy Eyebrows

@KrishAtl I personally set my brows with a brow gel on a daily basis but you don't need to. It's just an extra step I take to ensure they don't come off during the day. I think setting spray would be just fine 🙂

Re: Easy Eyebrows

Hey @KrishAtl, since you have pretty full brows I don't think you need dip brow (sorry if I'm adding to the confusion!). You just want to be able to define your brows so they look sharper and fill in any sparse bits you might have. I'm in a similar position and every time I've tried using a pomade/dip brow style product it doesn't look natural on me at all. If the look you are going for is much fuller thicker brows this might be for you.

I learned a great trick recently from a Sephora cast member that I've been using this week and loving the look. I draw a line under my brows to create a define line and blend upwards. I then flick my brush lightly upwards (or in the direction of the hair) where I have gaps to fill it in only. Also I keep using a spulee to blend in the colour as I work. This look has worked on me so far and I think could work for you.

They look defined even though I haven't had them threaded in a while! They look defined even though I haven't had them threaded in a while!I picked up the new Kat Von D pencil, and I am seriously in love since it mimics hair even better than the Anastasia Brow Wiz does in my opinion. For colour the recommendation generally seems to be a shade or two lighter then your hair. I would also never go for black even if you have black hair, it looks really stark not natural.

@Aaliaa Your brows are amazing!

Re: Easy Eyebrows

Thanks @gonerogue!

RE: Re: Easy Eyebrows

Thank you @Aaliaa! This is exactly the advice I was looking for! Which brush do you prefer for blending the liner through brows??

Re: RE: Re: Easy Eyebrows

I just use the brush/spoolie thats on the other side of the eyebrow pencil @KrishAtl

Re: RE: Re: Easy Eyebrows

@KrishAtl I use ABH #12 brush to brush my brows and apply my brow product with!
