ABH Dip Brow Pomade Question (s)

So I was thinking about purchasing the ABH Dip Brow Pomade with coordinating brush but it seems way beyond my area of expertise! I am just learning how to properly fill in my brows with the ABH brow pencil and am slowly getting better at it, but am by no means an expert. So my question is...is this a difficult product to use for a beginner? Any tips? Do you think I should hold off until I get better at lining my brows with the pencil? I have pretty thin brows from all my years of waxing and they just don’t seem to want to grow. I would love to fill them in but still make them look natural. Another question: I am not sure I am using the right color for my brows. I currently use chocolate because it says to match up with the color of your hair, which is a warm brown with some red in it (dyed). However, my eyebrows are a much darker brown. Do you think I should order the dark brown color or stick with the color I have (you can tell the line is a bit lighter than my brows...very subtle, but I notice)? Thanks!

RE: ABH Dip Brow Pomade Question (s)

So I have a Dip Brow update and pic. But first I want to thank you wonderful ladies for all of your feedback! I was going to hold off on buying and practice more with my ABH pencil. But then I got a Sephora makeover yesterday and the woman used the DB on my brows. It came out great! I’m glad I was able to test out the color as well (soft brown), because if I had ordered the color I use in the pencil (chocolate) online, it would have been too dark for me. So anyway, I purchased it and practiced today, using a cheap ELF two-sided brow brush. I did not purchase one of the ABH brushes made for the DB yet. I think it came out ok for my first time using. I still need some practice of course, but not too bad. I’ve attached a pic. Btw, I hate selfies...I promise my forehead is not that huge and I don’t have “crazy eyes” irl lol.

Oh yay @Llamamama2! I think it looks good!  There is a little bit of a learning curve, but it looks like you’ve got a good handle on it!

ABH Dip Brow Pomade Question (s)

Personally I love the brow pomade and I feel like I am a complete beginner. I was using their pencil but felt like it was making my eyebrow hair fall out. I switched to the pomade and use ABH brush #12. I build the color up instead of globbing it on because it can get heavy. I get lots of compliments on my brows (which I think is strange!) But I think it is easy to use. I don't think I have very full lashes but I don't think they are sparse either. I did try it on my mom who's brows are sparser than mine and it didn't look good on her but I think it just made them too bold for her very small face. Sometimes there are free samples are for the pomade. You might be able to hold out for those or ask in store. Good luck!

Re: ABH Dip Brow Pomade Question (s)

I have some pretty non-existent eyebrows myself (the 70s we’re not a good time for mine) and I’ve used ABH Brow Wiz, Dip Brow and Brow Powder. Here are my thoughts on the various products. Brow powder will give you the most natural looking results. It’s difficult to get a super smooth line with it but it will fill in brows nicely and make them look fuller. Dip Brow will (when applied properly) give you super polished defined brows. The brush can look a little intimidating, but if you can apply liquid liner, you should be able to handle this. Just use it sparingly — like wipe off the brush a bit before you put it to your brows. It does a nice job of filling in too. I think it’s important to get the right shade with this or it can look a bit too stylized. Brow Wiz will give you results that are somewhere between the two and it’s the product I use most of the time. It’s easy to get a clean line, but it’s a little more forgiving than Dip Brow. Now having said all that, you CAN use combinations of them. For instance, I will use the Brow Wiz, then fill in with the Powder so it looks a little fuller and a little less perfect. You can also do a light outline with Brow Wiz, then do Dip Brow on top so you have a guide.

As for the color, it’s hard to say without seeing it. I had dark brown hair but I’ve gotten gray around my face. But even when my hair was dark, my brows were a lighter brown. I currently use Medium Brown and it seems to match my brows well, plus I feel comfortable with it. If you feel like it looks too light against your natural brows, you may want to go darker, but you might want to try it out first. Hope that helps!

Re: ABH Dip Brow Pomade Question (s)

Hello,

To answer your question yes you should hold off. I have used it in the past and I found that it is not the best for sparce brows. They can end up looking boxy and heavy unless you make small precise strokes to look like hairs. I have found that the colourpop brow pencil works good you can build up your brows without it looking like you colored them in.
