Why is Sephora so expensive???

So I rarely shop at Sephora because everything there is sooo overpriced. Why pay so much money on things that you can go get somewhere else for less then half the price. Literally $50 would barely get you 2 items depending on what you buy. Does anyone agree?

I don’t shop at sophora anymore because of the prices. Don’t get me wrong though they have good stuff but so pricey.

Sephora is one of the best store of beauty. I don't believe is expensive at all, they carry most expensive brands on the market, so you basically can find products there high end makeup, you can't find in a drugstore store or Walmart even in Ulta. Most of the brands Sephora carries are from Europe even some from Korea, internationally brands and some made in United State. They don't made a price, the brand make a deal with the store and supply with the product so they can see how is going to sell (is basically a trial - if the brand sell well there that would sing a better deal and produce more product so people can purchase) Also sometimes people don't realize when the product is import from other countries are more expensive as well. Last is the product is excellent, great you want to pay more for the best products. Hope this help

Sephora is great if you like getting ripped off. There is nothing in Sephora that’s cheaper than other stores or manufacturers. Matter of fact you’re going to pay almost twice as much for scents in most cases.

I don't think Sephora is any more expensive then going to each individual brand. They don't set the prices. What I love about Sephora is the wide range of products they sell. I love trying new products and I know when I shop Sephora they will have something interesting to try.

I actually went directly to bareMinerals thinking it would be cheaper to buy my foundation direct from the company. It wasn't. The product itself costs the same, but with the rewards system and sales I actually do better buying from Sephora.

Sephora only really controls the price of their house brand - not all the other brands.  Lancôme sets the price for Lancôme product, Guerlain sets the price for Guerlain products, etc.  Sephora is mainly just a reseller - a convenient place for people to shop a lot of higher end brands in one location.  But if you think a Bite Beauty lipstick is overpriced (for example), then your complaint needs to be directed at Bite Beauty because Sephora doesn't set Bite's prices.

By that logic, we should question why people buy anything anywhere else besides Wal-Mart. Whoops, nevermind. Wal-Mart doesn't sell cars! Sorry, I don't agree.

I shop a lot of their sale and clearance items and make out like a bandit. The employees are really helpful. If you tell them what you want to get and your budget they can show you some awesome stuff.

@brookej25 I shop at Sephora precisely because it sells luxury products at the exact same price as every other major retailer that sells the same products, the difference being that I also benefit from getting points for my purchases. Yes, there are many brands of makeup, skincare, and perfume that are far less expensive than the brands I choose to purchase via Sephora/Ulta/Saks/Nordstrom/Neiman Marcus/Barney's, (well, you get my drift,) but those products do not do for me personally what more expensive brands do, again for me. If you do not like the brands sold by Sephora, et al, as much as less expensive brands, if these less expensive brands give you results that make you happy, then continue to shop for these items at whatever retailers you prefer. I will continue to patronize Sephora as long as they sell the products I like and offer good deals I can take advantage of.

It is pretty much the same with everything else: car, clothes, food etc.  Why does somebody needs to buy an expensive cars instead of economy car?  At the ends, they're all serve the same purpose of helping us moving right?  It's different products for different lifestyles, needs, etc.... We can go on and on about it and there would be no rights or wrongs...Do make the choices that make you happy while being financially responsible at the same time.

Quality? Obviously Estee Lauder is going to be different than Covergirl. Personally I find the products I buy are well worth the money

Because your paying for the brand name and the quality. It's no different than why would you buy a pair of Nike shoes instead of a pair of shoes at Walmart. It's high end name brand and better quality.
