Sephora gift card scam

My Fiancè bought me a gift card from CVS for Sephora for Mothers Day. I finally got around to using it and when they scratched it off, there were only 13 numbers for the GC number (the full 8 were there for the pin). They said it wouldn’t scan either. Told me to call the number on the back to get missing numbers. I did that and they transferred me to a Sephora help desk. Then they transferred me back to the number on the back of the card because they don’t have access to the full card number. The number on the back of the card then said they should be able to look it up because I have first 13 numbers. Then they told me they could see my card was used online on 6/5/25. How is that possible when the last 3 numbers weren’t even printed on the gift card!? This is a scam for sure and Sephora may not be behind it but they definitely got their money if the gift card was able to be used with them!!! Never buying a Sephora gift card again!!!!
