New Year’s Resolutions 2026

What are your New Year’s Resolutions for 2026? It could be spending less money, traveling, working out more, career goals, stepping outside your comfort zone, etc.

I am trying to re study my Pilates manual, learn more about skincare, practice calligraphy/craft more, and travel with the family this year.

I already cleaned and organized all the rooms in my house. As well as gone through all my makeup and skincare so I could start fresh for the new year. All liners have been sharpened and ready to go.

Re: New Year’s Resolutions 2026

This New Year I promised myself to focus not only on outer beauty, but also to take my health more seriously. I look quite good, but lately I was eating badly and not doing any sport at all. I understand that this is what affected the appearance of pimples and wrinkles on my face. That’s why when I read https://betterme.world/articles/17-7-intermittent-fasting/ I realized that I want to start following a diet, eat more balanced, and avoid very unhealthy food. I also promised myself that I would start going to the gym this year. So I already bought a membership and next week I plan to go to my first workout.

Re: New Year’s Resolutions 2026

@zuzahafty Those goals sound amazing. You can do it!

Re: New Year’s Resolutions 2026

That is so cool you want to work on calligraphy @SportyGirly125 ! It's also on my list but I'm feeling a bit intimidated!

I'm not big on goals but a few things I'm trying to start the year with (and hopefully carry through the year) are:

  • Air drying my hair more often and learning to embrace my waves while babying my bleached hair so I can grow it back out (product tips or groups you recommend here absolutely welcome),
  • Looking into volunteering for our local free fridges and food pantries around the city,
  • Spending more time visiting my grandfather and getting to know some younger relatives on a consistent basis,
  • Learning more about financial planning and saving for the second half of life (yay midlife bucket lists and planning),
  • Starting physical therapy for my P.O.T.S. so I can hopefully work towards being able to "really" exercise come summer. And, generally coming up with activities to help me feel productive and positive when my P.O.T.S. flares (AKA up the gratitude for what I can do and not go down the spiral of feeling like I'll "never" get better again),
  • Sketching or arting it up every day as part of that! I'm starting with some books on how to do botanical drawings. The first week was all about daisies which I loved. Now I've started the tulip section and it's so hard but I'm determined, lol. It's been really fun to play with different mediums and I hope to make cards just for friends and family:

Hope your New Years are all off to a good start!

Re: New Year’s Resolutions 2026

I love your beautiful sketches, @PDXXXX!

Re: New Year’s Resolutions 2026

That's so sweet of you @curlychiquita ! I'm looking forward to learning more this year. Hope your year is off to a good start!

Re: New Year’s Resolutions 2026

@PDXXXX @Great new year resolutions.

I took a calligraphy course back in 2023 which was free and in depth and learned so much that I ended paying for her other advance classes. Totally worth it. I just need to practice more. When I was doing the classes I would practice everyday for months.

Re: New Year’s Resolutions 2026

@SportyGirly125 that sounds so cool and even cooler you dedicated yourself to it so thoroughly! We have a calligraphy society here I'm curious to check out and some continuing ed classes through the community college. I got a beginner book but I think I would need the structure of the classes to commit like you did! Hope your 2026 is off to a good start 🙂

Re: New Year’s Resolutions 2026

@PDXXXX @It’s going well.  Thank you ☺️

Re: New Year’s Resolutions 2026

@SportyGirly125  I love your resolutions, and the way you are starting fresh for the new year!

I have a lot of different goals for this year across different categories, but here are some of my main ones:

- lose weight, exercise more often and get in better shape 💪

- read more books (at least one or two per month) 📚

- visit my grandmother, and visit my friend + her family 💞

- finish paying off debt, and stick to a monthly budget 💸

- move out of my parents' house 🏠

- spend more time on hobbies + creative projects - try bookbinding + bullet journaling 📔

Re: New Year’s Resolutions 2026

@caitbird I may need to borrow your goal of visiting family more often!  I feel like since the pandemic I've been lax in that!

Re: New Year’s Resolutions 2026

@caitbird Those are great new year resolutions

Re: New Year’s Resolutions 2026

@SportyGirly125  thank you! 😊

Re: New Year’s Resolutions 2026

These are all wonderful, @caitbird !  I started working out last year after a *ahem* year hiatus.  I'm really enjoying it.  I got rid of all my crafting supplies except crochet.  I want to start spending more time with this fave hobby.  Best wishes on your goals! 😘

Re: New Year’s Resolutions 2026

@Titian06  thank you so much! You too! 💜

Re: New Year’s Resolutions 2026

I don't typically make resolutions.  Seeing what @SportyGirly125 and @greeneyedgirl107 wrote, I might as well join in.  Since around Thanksgiving, I've been deep cleaning my condo, going room by room.  I finished the kitchen, laundry room, entry and entry closet.  Now I'm working on the absolute worst room:  many years ago, my junk drawer threw up in my craft/computer room.  So far, I've taken a car trunk, back seat, and floor full of items to Goodwill, a trunk full of electronics to a local computer business for recycling/destruction, set out a full trash bin and full recycle bin, moved all my yarn to another room to go through after I finish the remainder of the room, and moved paperwork to another room to review for "keep/scan" or "shred/recycle."  After this room, I have two more rooms and their associated closets plus the bathrooms, one of which is mine with all its cosmetics, skincare, and hair products.

Oh, I've also recycles all my paperback college textbooks and cut out all the pages from the hardback textbooks.  This removed 10 or 12 boxes from my garage.  I also gave my collection of Nancy Drew books to a work colleague for his daughter.  That was another two boxes.  Then I found another box of books that belonged to my mom.  I gave that back to her.  Here's a laugh:  she gave the box back to me yesterday filled with a book series she planned to get rid of.  I said I would take the books so I could re-read them. 😅  Add the garage to the list of rooms to finish going through.

In addition, is my annual resolution to drink more water due to passing a kidney stone a year ago.  I have another kidney stone in the other kidney I didn't pass that I'd rather not. 😆

Re: New Year’s Resolutions 2026

@Titian06 You’ll feel so much better when the condo clean out is finished.  I try to do a got clean out each Spring and I’m always amazed at how much I still have when I’m done.

P.S. Good luck with the kidney stone!

Re: New Year’s Resolutions 2026

@curlychiquita - This is my first major clean-out in years.  Hopefully, I can keep clean once I'm done. 😄

Re: New Year’s Resolutions 2026

@Titian06 wow!  Great job!  And good luck with not having to pass the kidney stone!

Re: New Year’s Resolutions 2026

Thanks, @greeneyedgirl107 ! 💖💖💖

Re: New Year’s Resolutions 2026

@Titian06 That sounds like so much work... but once you've finished your last room I bet you feel so much lighter!
