Halloween 2023 Costume Ideas

Halloween is fast approaching. Some of us have had a costume idea (or two!) locked in for months now while others (like myself) are panicking and desperate for a last minute idea. 

I thought it might be helpful to start a thread for some last minute ideas. You can post a few ideas for people to take inspiration from or ask for help from the community!

I finally figured out my costume for tomorrow. Here’s a hint.

Do you have anything that you could use to pull off Dorothy from wizard of Oz? @JoSometimes

@lmaster Almost! I have a a light blue polka dot overall skirt I could substitute for her blue gingham dress. It’s the red slippers that are missing! This would make for a great cosplay in the future though! Thanks for the idea.

@JoSometimes @I’m being a cowgirl this year. Found random cowboy boots at my parents last time I was there so I ordered a cheap vest and hat and I’ll wear a Jean skirt I already have

@Kim888 It’s nice when some of the costume is already in your wardrobe or could be added to it after. So smart!

So I’m fully panicking and completely lost with what to dress up as this year at work. I thought about just going as my femme self but I feel like I’m cheapening myself and other gender fluid/trans people by doing so. It’s who I am which means it’s not really a costume anymore, it’s just me but dressed differently. If I’m going to present fully femme at work, I would want it to be for a good reason. 

I’d still love to do something that would allow me to showcase my makeup skills in some way. I’m just not sure what to do. I work at a school, so it does need to be at least PG. Help!

(And I’m not doing anything clown-like… I have an extreme dislike for clowns… 😰)

They would dad-bod versions of those characters @CynthieLu! Like some alternate universe where Goku still had a monstrous appetite but never trained or worked out. 🙃

I’ll do some digging to see if there’s a character I can pull off.

I did Ash Ketchum last year from Pokémon (even borrowed my kids Pikachu and made a Pokeball purse to carry him around in). I still have the costume if I get a little too desperate.

@JoSometimes   Well I don’t know what my costume will be.   We are invited to a neighbors Halloween party and we’re asked to come in costume.  So I am starting to think and look.  When I find it, I’ll post again 🎃🎃

@Cissy63 Is there a specific theme or any costume will do? Are you going with anyone? Couple or group costumes are always fun!

@JoSometimes  I am not sure yet.  My husband and I are going together.  But his idea of a costume is finding a mask , that’s all. Just a mask.  I want to do a costume.  But no wig.  None of the Halloween wigs ever fit my head🤪. But I bought some Halloween makeup that NYX  was offering.  I’m going to add it to my next Haul message.  Walmart had the display.  So far I have that!  More to come!

@Cissy63If one of you dressed in all red and the other in all yellow, you could be a ketchup and mustard. Or you could do other pairings like salt/pepper or peanut butter/jam. And it could be normal clothes in the right colours, so he doesn’t even have to find a mask!
