I've been chatting with some fellow coffee addicts over in the Random Thoughts thread but I thought maybe I should make a separate thread. So let's discuss anything/everything about coffee!
I just got the Peet's Sumatra blend in the k cups and I really like it! Need to make a note to try their Major Dickinsons Blend since it's so popular.
Ohh ok. I'll have to try. I just cannot stand coconut flavor. That's interesting that Vita Coco sweetens it. I didn't know that.
Go for O.N.E. if you feel like trying it. If you're trying it but still want to mask the taste, SMOOTHIES.
Honest Harvest brand doesn't have that weird sour aftertaste that most coconut waters have. Its more expensive but its not pasteurized and doesn't have any sugars added. Its the closest to opening up a young coconut and drinking it.
I recently heard that Blue Bottle can be sold at Whole Foods. I need to go see for myself but I saw someone posting that they found ready made iced coffee there. Iced coffee is not my thing really but I hope they have some other varieties.
I've seen their iced coffee sold in my local supermarkets along with Stumptown Cold Brew.
I usually just go to Blue Bottle though, there are 2 locations < 15 minutes away from me. Kind of wish they hadn't bought out Handsome Coffee Roasters down here though.
That's what I thought - it's just their iced coffee.
You are lucky! I would have to go to the city for Blue Bottle. I'm in the East Bay so it's a long ways just for coffee. But when I am in the city I always try to go there. I need to find some good places around me but ppl here are slaves to convenience and well known chains so all we have is Starbucks and Peet's. At least we have Peets!
Yup, iced only, which I don't mind but I like it with almond milk and there isn't a premade option for that lol.
Funny thing is, they've opened up 4 shops out here in LA in the last year and I've unintentionally been to all of them within their first 2 months of opening haha. I think my subconscious just really loves Blue Bottle.
I only go on weekends though, although the building I work in is located equidistantly from two locations, I can't really leave to get a delicious coffee haha.
I haven't tried it with almond milk. That sounds really good, may have to experiment...
No fair! We get nothing good here. There is one restaurant downtown that serve Blue Bottle though so I try and go there just for the coffee once in awhile. But other than that nothing.
Wow you're so lucky to have them so close to you! Jealous!
You should! I mostly get almond milk because regular milk upsets my stomach a little, but I like the way it tastes better too. Haha, I guess I am lucky to live fairly close to LA proper
In college I had a roommate who was a vegetarian and always had almond milk. It's so much sweeter than cow's milk (esp the fat free that I drink) so I doubt I can drink it alone. But I will definitely try it in the Blue Bottle iced coffee. Yes you are very lucky!
Hmm. I will go look... 😉
Oooh this is my kind of thread 😄
Does anyone have recommendations for Trader Joes beans? I have been digging the Organic Sumatra but I want to try something else that is similarly dark and rich.
I've never tried the beans, since I make coffee with my Keurig but I can tell they must have some good stuff because I've had a few kinds of their K Cups. Although I am annoyed because in their flyer I saw they had pumpkin spice k cups and I went the very next day after receiving the flyer only to be told that they ran out and won't be getting anymore this season. I was so mad.
They run out of some stuff sooo quickly 😞 Last year my store was out of the pumpkin spiced pumpkin seeds in a flash, thankfully this year it's been continually restocked.
I don't shop there regularly so I don't know. But it's no fun going in for a specific thing and not being able to get it.
I would say they are pretty good for the price point! I rarely deviate from the Sumatra but once I splurged and got the Hawaiian Kona ($19.99 as opposed to $6-7ish for most other cans) and while i can't compare it to the real stuff it was really smooth and delicious. But it is too pricey for my household where we go through 1-2 strong pots a day.
My corgi goes mental whenever i grind coffee at home. (I like to do a few days' worth batch at a time because freshness) I should just grind it at the store, a full can is gone in 2-3 weeks anyway.
Mmm that sounds really good! I will have to check it out! I am the only one who drinks coffee at home, my husband doesn't, so it would last a while here! I use a Keurig and a traditional coffee pot. I go
back and forth. I've heard fresh ground tastes soooo much better, so maybe I'll try what you do and do a few batches at once. I have a grinder and never used it! 😉
I tried the Peet's Sumatra Blend k-cup that you said you liked. I like it!
I also had a Starbucks Toasted Graham latte (I asked to make it a little less sweet then they usually make it). It was good! I wanted to try something different and I really liked it.
😄
