Which PRIMER?!

I've tried several primers, currently using Smashbox Primerizer, which works ok.  I've tried Smashbox Photo Finish which did not work at all, my makeup disappeared within a couple of hours.  I do not wear foundation, I only use Bye Bye Redness in a few places on my cheeks/nose and then I finish with It! Your Skin But Better Airbrush Perfecting Powder.  Even with this minimal amount of makeup, I feel like it looks "caked on."

I use Ole Henriksen eye and face moisturizer each morning and night.

My skin is dry around the eye area, but otherwise moisturized and not oily at all.  I am open to trying any type of primer, just need some suggestions with your experience ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: Which PRIMER?!

Ive been trying and really enjoying the new milk primer. My go to the last year or two  has been the too faced hangover Rx primer which is hydrating. If I were you though @jennyzest5 , Iโ€™d try to get into a store and ask for a few samples to test them out!

RE: Which PRIMER?!

This is why Sephora has such a generous return policy. Thereโ€™s really no way to predict how something will react with your skin chemistry, plus your current skincare regimen, plus your makeup. Regardless, keep in mind, with any primer, less is more. I didnโ€™t think I liked TATCHAโ€™s Silk primer until I used the right amount, which is hardly any.

RE: Which PRIMER?!

Agreed! But I have read where people have returned too many things and had their accounts suspended for a couple of months๐Ÿ˜ณ not sure if that's true or not! I've only returned a couple of things over the years. I try to get a mini size first if I'm not sure!

Re: RE: Which PRIMER?!

@jennyzest5 Sephora uses The Retail Equation, who monitors return activity at a lot of big stores. They determine if a return is allowed or not and the limits, which can vary by store and by customer. Store's check for empty products, but it's the system who determines and ultimately gives the warning or ban. Then the customer needs to contact TRE to get their history and go from there.

RE: Which PRIMER?!

They only do that with people who repeatedly abuse the policy. For example, bringing in nearly empty bottles, repeatedly. Returning items for which they have no receipt, repeatedly. Returning items from an order made over a year ago and expecting cash. Iโ€™ve seen people try all of these, and if itโ€™s the first time... Sephora will actually let them! Iโ€™ve actually taken affront on staffโ€™s behalf when someone is obviously pulling something, but they are fine with it 99% of the time. The people who complain, in my experience, arenโ€™t being honest about how often theyโ€™re actually trying stuff. And I agree with you that travel size is another great way to try one out, because if it does work, you know youโ€™re set for a trip, when the time comes.

Re: Which PRIMER?!

The primer that you use can really depend on the foundation you use. Not all foundations and primers get along with one another. Like the Smashbox Original Photofinish Primer doesn't work with a few foundations that I have, makes me oily in areas that I'm not and things just slip off my face!

That all being said, what foundation(s) are you currently using?

RE: Re: Which PRIMER?!

I do not use foundation, just It Bye Bye redness cream on my cheeks/nose and then It Airbrush Perfecting Powder on top. I would like a primer that helps with fine lines/wrinkles.

RE: Re: Which PRIMER?!

Itโ€™s not exactly a primer, but Unseen Sunscreen from SuperGoop! has a lot of the properties youโ€™re looking for. It has this matte, clear consistency that blurs the look of lines and pores and the box says it โ€œgripsโ€ makeup. I think it might be just what a minimalist like you needs ๐Ÿ˜‰
