Happy New Year All!
I debated starting this thread again but since I - inexplicably 😉 - made Rouge again, I figured why not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Welcome to the Great Rouge Experiment - Part 2. My rouge status is good until December 31, 2017. Last year we documented every "Rouge-only" perk to determine whether being Rouge was "worth it" And I figured we can do it again this year to see if the program is getting better (or worse).
Just like last year, every Rouge-only perk or event that I hear about will go on this thread and if you hear anything please please please add it to this year-long running list. And then on December 31, 2017 we can really assess whether it is worth the extra $600+ to be Rouge and if the Rouge program in general is improving.
Mods, last year this thread was moved to the Rouge-only area which I don't think was helpful to non-Rouge BIs who are wondering about the program. I'd really like to keep the thread here if you don't mind. Thanks!
January - 0.5 - Canada's "luckyrouge" event for Chinese New Year
February - 1 - 0.5 - Sephora x Ren event in NYC
and
0.5 - in-store event in Canada with a really cute red VIB Rouge bag.
March 1 - the selfie light gift with purchase event.
April 0.5 - +1 for an extra day of shopping during the spring sale but -1 for no points multiplier like the BIs got. +0.5 for IGK hair event in Chicago. It cost 2500 points.
May 1.5 - +1 point for the flash your card event (the one with the huge makeup bag) and +0.5 for the preview event in Canada for this weekend's closed door event (It was still technically May lol).
June 1.5 - +.5 for the US part of the Fall Preview Event and +1 for the $15 coupon
July 1 - +1 for Rouge-only coupon: $20 off of $100 or more.
August - +2 +1 for the extra day and 1 for the extra multiplier during the Summer Splurge Points multiplier event
September - +2 = +1 and the Sweaty Betty points event +.5 and a Bumble and Bumble event +.5 for a total of 2 points. Not bad.
October - 0
November - +2 = +1 for each weekend that Rouges got 20% off
December - +1 for the extra $5 off of $50 that Rouges received over VIBs with the coupon
Yearly Total - 13 (better than last year! https://community.sephora.com/t5/Rouge/The-Great-Rouge-Experiment/td-p/2324064 )
I went and wasted my points. I thought it was going to be a party, you know music, bites drinks and maybe a fashion show. They gave us a hand massage and we got 20% off with a glass of Champagne, no DJ. Lesson learned. Going on Sunday and hope that's better
I don't get why Sephora is mixing a line of clothing with beauty products. Are the companies related in some way? I wouldn't give any points for that "reward".
Is a complimentary service by a Sephora skincare person the same thing you can get in store for free during a makeover? Are there goodies? Or are you basically trading 1000 points for a 20% discount on activewear and a chance to win a raffle prize?
I don't live in one of the states where this is offered, but even if I did, I fail to see the point in spending 1000 points for this. But then again, I'm down to my last 1000 points and trying to get rid of them and end the Rewards Bazaar madness.
It's September y'all! It definitely feels like fall in NYC, which is crazytown. Anywho, August was a banner month for Rouges. We got 2 perks! The Summer Splurge Event gave Rouges 4x the points on purchases (compared to 3x for VIBs and 2x for BIs) + 1 AND an extra day +1. Now, if Sephora had given Rouges early (on time and at a reasonable hour) access to the Moschino bears, I would've given them all the points and retired, lol.
Seriously?? $50 for an empty bag?? Do they even know that they just had an event with bag full of samples for $40 buy-in??
@Tarabotti The bag is actually very nice, but $50 with no samples is pretty steep. 😞
I did a double take when things were $35. Then $40. And now $50. All in one year. Seems like I might've picked a bad year to become Rouge. haha. You have to RSVP, so there's no need to worry about the bags running out. The bag is pretty, but the event is also very early. Plus, subscription services include bags with samples for $10. Why does this event justify $50?
@darkiceis Lol. I probably will be too but yikes. I remember when the buy in was $25. Hell, I remember when it was FREE!
I agree. That's a lot for no samples. I'm glad Canada is getting a little extra since it normally seems the opposite but make our buyin less or give me a 100pt voucher. Something. Idk. I'm feeling very underwhelmed lately. I was ticked last night the VIBGEMS was already OOS and now this is just meh.
It sucks for the US that there aren't samples in the bag. 😞 The $50 buy-in makes no sense for you guys. It should be free bag with any purchase if it's empty. $25 max if they're being stingy.
The Canadian email is showing 6 items. It doesn't say samples may vary in the fine print so maybe it will be as pictured... The last event with a bag & samples was $45 buy-in I think so they are definitely slowly raising it.
@bonafide11 It might be a long shot but let's hope that the stores can try to come up with something to compensate for the lack of samples in the bag.
Perhaps Rouge candy.... 🙂
I'm burning a lifelong candle for those darn candies
