Makeup Brush Or Beauty Blender

Hey, I’m new and I was just wondering what you prefer more? Makeup brush, beauty blender, or fingers?? I like a natural look, but I don’t know which one works better. By the if this helps suggest I am using tower 28 concealer.

Tower 28 Beauty Swipe All-Over Hydrating Serum Concealer with 18-HR Wear

Re: Makeup Brush Or Beauty Blender

I know! I'm always like "which one for this product?" For most things, I use a sponge because you don't have to clean it as often as a brush and it evenly distriputes easier! 🎀

Re: Makeup Brush Or Beauty Blender

Welcome to BIC, @SoJulia !

Whether I use a brush or fingers really depends on the makeup item. Even if we’re just talking about undereye concealer, it depends on which concealer I use. My 2 favorite undereye concealers are Live Tinted Hueskin Concealer and NATASHA DENONA Hy-Glam Brightening & Hydrating Medium to Full Coverage Crease Proof Serum Concealer ..., and I like to use a brush with both of ‘em. But if I use a cream stick concealer like Cle de Peau Concealer or Jouer Essential Concealer Pen, I rub the concealer on the back of my hand first to warm it up, and then finger-apply from my hand to my undereyes. And If I use a cream pot/pan product like NARS Light Reflecting™ Undereye Brightener or a custom mix from MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Skin Face Essentials Long-Lasting Full Face Cream Palette, I usually start with a brush and then blend out with my fingers.

The type of brush also matters to me. I like a couple specific shapes and sizes of brush for undereye concealing. I like to use the least amount of concealer necessary, and I don’t often apply it to my entire undereye area; I’m very strategic about placement. I don’t use beauty sponges on my face because, well, I just don’t like ‘em for various reasons.

Once you’ve played around for a while with your concealer and different ways to apply it, you’ll find you like one way more than the others. It’s all very subjective, really.

Re: Makeup Brush Or Beauty Blender

@SoJulia, comes down to preference because your skin type, your environment, sensitivities and how much coverage you like all factor in, so agreed with @WinglessOne . I can get a skin like finish with various applications tricks/techniques with most of my complexion products, but that's a whole different post

Also wanted to note that a beautyblender gives a wonderful finish, but with thin products like a skin tint, it'll eat/absorb a lot of product, so keep that in mind.  A brush can also be streaky depending on your skin type and the thickness/thinness of you complexion product.  I usually look at the consistency of a foundation and decide on the tool, so I'll usually test new ones with my fingers and that'll usually help me.

@SoJulia @For concealer I use my fingers. If I am covering a blemish I use a brush.

Re: Makeup Brush Or Beauty Blender

@SoJulia  I think it’s personal preference. But I prefer a brush. I like MERIT Brush No. 1 Tapered Blending Brush  I use it for my whole face. I do my foundation and concealer then use it to blend my blush and highlight. It’s so easy!
