Advertisement Concern

My husband and I visited the Sephora in Kohls today. We both were taken aback by an advertisement with several women and a man with a beard dressed like a woman. Words are difficult to come by to describe our disappointment with this visual. I'm not a homophobe and each for himself, but I am tired of this agenda being placed upon us and disappointed that Sephora has taken this posture. People making this choice are free to do so, but they represent a very small percentage of our overall population.

Needless to say, I will not be purchasing products from Sephora any longer.

Re: Advertisement Concern

You are allowed your opinion, I also donโ€™t necessarily want to see bearded men in little sundresses with Sephora trying to push agendas. I never leave a comment on anything like this, but felt compelled to tell you good for you that you are able to express yourself if everyone else can express themselves. I find for the most part people are hypocrites (even the people who supposedly  LOVE EVERYONE) except people who donโ€™t agree with them about everything. So, I guess, they are allowed to come out and say we love men in dresses, but if someone else doesnโ€™t like it they are not allowed to express themselves. I would call that hypocritical.

Re: Advertisement Concern

@Fuddyduddy  Iโ€™m going to assume youโ€™re making a troll thread, based solely on your username and the topic. ๐Ÿ™„ But sure, Iโ€™ll play along for a bit:

How does a bearded man โ€œdressed like a womanโ€ place an โ€œagendaโ€ on you and your husband? Did the ad suddenly make you or your husband want to dress differently? Did it make you want to change your gender identity? Or did it offend you the same way interracial couples or single mothers in ads still offend some people?

Feel free to shop and not shop wherever you want, of course. Also, recognize that โ€œa very small percentage of [the USโ€™s] overall populationโ€ is actually a large number of people: last time I checked (2021 stats), around 5% of young adults (under age 30) identified as transgender, for instance. Thatโ€™s 16.6 million people in the US, as of the 2021 population count. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

@Fuddyduddy

You say you are not homophobic but you are willing to stop shopping at sephora because you saw a picture of someone that didnโ€™t meet your expectations in terms of gender expression. (That sounds homophobic/transphobic)

Iโ€™m happy sephora is a place where there is representation for everyone ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ
