What products to use to help my acne

image.jpg

image.jpg

Im very new to skin care but so far i think i have combination skin. I have a lot of scars and i think hyperpigmentation. The only affected areas are my chin, around my mouth and cheeks. For a few months now i’ve been using the ordinary hyaluronic acid and retinol, for moisturizers i use cetaphil and cerave foaming cleanser (normal to oily skin). I have a feeling im not using the correct products thats why im not seeing results. Please i need recommendations

Re: What products to use to help my acne

I would try using the panoxl benzoyl peroxide cleanser every morninl. also i don’t think you need the hylauronic acid and might be better benefited by the niacinimde serum. Lastly, make sure u use a sunscreen every day! This will prevent skin cancer and help fade your acne scars. I like the hero superlight sunscreen, innisfree watrery sun gel, and cocokind hybrid but anything sunscreen is fine. Hope this helps and lmk what doesn’t work!!

Re: What products to use to help my acne

Hey there!

I struggled with acne for years so I feel your pain. Using retinol is really great for acne and preventing deep scar formation. In my experience, over the counter meds can only do so much. If breakouts persist, try using a prescription retinol as they are stronger! I would also try benzoyl peroxyde first. There are prescription combined products with retinol or topical antibiotics + benzoyl peroxyde.

All in all, benzoyl peroxyde is your best friend but be careful, it stains clothes and sheets.

Again, talk to your GP or with a dermatologist about all your options. There's also oral medication (not accutane) to consider if all else fails but I have a feeling that prescription creams will do wonders for you.

Hope this helps!!

(PS: I don't know it that's really what helped heal my acne once and for all, but i noticed a very significant difference using the Effaclar salicylic acid serum from Laroche-Posay. Expensive but I don't have any more acne, worth giving it a try in my opinion!)

thank you!! this really helped ❤️

If you are able, I would recommend seeing a dermatologist to determine the best treatment, @laracroftismygf. Your products are fine if they work for your skin, but if you aren't seeing the results you want then you may want to swap out the retinol with a different acne-fighting treatment like BHA (salicylic acid) or benzoyl peroxide.

Re: What products to use to help my acne

I agree with @quspork, visiting your dermatologist and letting them know what your using, and what's working or not,  they can help you find things that you can try to get better results.

And remember it can take weeks to see the results from a new product in your skin care. 💖 It can feel like a long wait but hopefully you'll see some good results soon.

Good luck! @laracroftismygf and keep us posted if you want 💙
