Pregnancy acne problems

Hi everyone. I’ve recently found out I’m pregnant. With the help of acne kicking my ass unfortunately  lmao. Typically I don’t have much acne , a bump or two occasionally. But I’ve broke out and have blemishes and bumps all over my forehead and chest. I already use youth to the people cleanser, the superfood moisturizer and the clay mask. It’s not helping.. that and differen gel. At this point I think I may be out of luck 😢

Re: Pregnancy acne problems

@Xylylene  I agree with @SportyGirly125 : definitely talk with your OB/GYN about which acne-fighting ingredients are safe for you to use while pregnant. Many doctors recommend not using retinoids (the vitamin A family) during pregnancy; this includes adapalene, which is in Differin Gel. A doctor can help you figure out which treatments are safe.

Re: Pregnancy acne problems

@WinglessOne are there any other OTC or RX skincare products that may interact during pregnancy? I've never been pregnant, but this is still valuable information to know.

Re: Pregnancy acne problems

@missaa8 I have been pregnant twice and did my own research and asked my OB what was okay to use and wasn’t. We are not medical professionals on here.

Re: Pregnancy acne problems

I agree, @SportyGirly125! I don't think the internet would be a priority if I were employed in the medical field (unless for sales, of course)

Re: Pregnancy acne problems

@missaa8  That's really a topic best discussed with a medical doctor. 🙂 I've known pregnant people who were told by their docs to completely stop using salicylic acid. I've also known a few whose docs said salicylic acid was okay to use for just a certain amount of time during pregnancy. I haven't dug through clinical studies about the topic myself.

Re: Pregnancy acne problems

@WinglessOne I'm not a law student, but wouldn't privacy laws prevent most of that info from being openly discussed?

Re: Pregnancy acne problems

@missaa8  If a pregnant person tells you themself about their own medical issues, then no, there's no privacy issue. If instead that person's doctor tells you about it and identifies their patient, then yes, that's a privacy violation. All the pregnant people (relatives, friends, coworkers, etc.) I mentioned in my earlier post told me themselves about what their docs did and didn't recommend.

Thank you for taking time out of your schedule to explain privacy in reproduction rights, @WinglessOne!

@Xylylene @Have you talked to your OB or a Dermatologist?
