Pimple patches

Hi, I’ve tried a lot of different pimple patches, and none of them seem to work! I get really bad acne on my forehead and also get really deep pimples. Does anyone have a recommendation for patches that is under $30 and work really well?

Re: Pimple patches

Hi There,

I use pimple patches a lot and here are some of my faves ❤️

•Hero Cosmetics original mighty patch 24 count $12.99

•Bioré Cover and Conquer 30 count $9.99

•Rael Beauty miracle patch 52 count $12.99

Hope this helps!

Re: Pimple patches

Hi @puppylove2023 ! Pimple patches won’t work on acne that’s deep beneath the skin surface.* Those hydrocolloid patches are best for acne that’s come to a head and ruptured. A patch will absorb the gunk oozing out of that pimple, and create a moist protective environment to help that skin lesion heal. Patches can also deter folks from picking at their acne; that’s the only reason I’d use one on a pimple that hasn’t ruptured.

*Even the patches with microdarts aren’t likely to work on something like cystic acne. That type of acne doesn’t respond to many OTC acne ingredients you apply to skin.

Sounds like you need a different type of product. Have you ever used a salicylic acid (BHA) cleanser or leave-on product? Benzoyl peroxide? Azelaic acid? Adapalene? Those are the kinds of ingredients that treat acne; which one’s best for you depends on the type of acne you have. A board certified dermatologist can diagnose your acne and help you figure out the best treatments for your skin. But if you haven’t tried at least BHA yet, that’s a good starting point.

Re: Pimple patches

Thank you so much for the info. Im glad that now I at least have an idea for what can help. I think the BHA will help. Thank you again!

@puppylove2023  No problem! Quick BIC tip: remember to “@“ the person you reply to, so they’ll get a notification. Otherwise they might never see your reply. 🙂

{EDIT because I forgot to mention: if you’re allergic to aspirin, don’t use salicylic acid.}

A cult favorite BHA leave-on product (that actually works well) is Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant ; it comes in full and mini sizes, and I think Sephora still has a GWP foil sample available on the Beauty Offers page. Paula’s Choice makes other BHA products at varying strengths, but 2% is plenty for most folks. Another effective option is The INKEY List Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) Blemish + Blackhead Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL  .

BHA can be drying, so start off using it just 1-3 times a week to see how your skin reacts. You might get some purging (sudden new acne) at first; if that doesn’t calm down within a month, then stop using the product.

If your skin’s too sensitive to handle a leave-on BHA product, consider a rinse-off option like CeraVe Acne Control Cleanser, The INKEY List Salicylic Acid Cleanser 5 oz / 150 ml  , or even a rinse-off mask like The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Masque  .

I hope BHA works well for you!

Re: Pimple patches

What's your routine like @puppylove2023

What cleansers, serums etc are you using am/pm?

Do you know what triggers your acne, have you ever been to a dermatologist or doctor about it?

A professional might be able to direct you to products that will make a difference.
