Must Use Products While on Accutane

Hello all! I am finishing up my first month of accutane and wanted to share my experience so far and get some tips from others that have been on it! Before starting accutane, I had literally THE most oily skin you can imagine. Makeup would slide right off my skin even with the most mattifying moisturizers, primers, setting sprays etc. My acne is a combination of inflammatory, nodular acne and cystic acne all in the hormonal region of the face (cheeks, chin, jawline). After trying EVERYTHING from diet changes, acne topicals, birth control, and the list goes on, I decided to finally bite the bullet and try accutane. A month in with 60 mg a day, I am already noticing my skin changing. One obvious side effect is the dry lips and skin. I have been able to control it using a few products: Josie Maran argan oil Creme de La Mer (this used to be way too heavy for me even at night) Too Faced Hangover setting spray My current make regiment may be a bit too drying for my skin. It looks super dull and blah. Has anybody with dry skin/people on accutane had any luck with certain makeup products? I really need a good primer for the texture/dryness. Currently using: Primer - Too Faced Hangover spray and Smashbox photo finish light Foundation - YSL 24 hour or Nars skin tint depending on if I want really full coverage or not Setting powder - Laura Mercier translucent powder I contour as well to help give me some definition, but I would love some tips for glowy (not sparkly) looking skin! Hi!! I finished my 7 month course of accutane about three months ago! Just remember it will get better in the end, there will be days when your lips will get dryer and skin will get more sensitive! Definitely always use spf! I like the clarins one for the face. Face wash I loved the outer peace by aveda and the purity one, just kept it really simple! For moisturizer definitely the aqua bomb, for lips nothing was better than the Elizabeth Arden eight hour cream and aquaphor! For makeup I liked the Dior air flash foundation it felt light and not irritating! Good luck!!

I love Clinique Moisture Surge. I used that whilst I was on accutane and I was able to use MAC Studio Fix fluid as normal. I actually skipped primer as well although I really like the MUFE moisturizing primer. My dermatologist made me switch to Cetaphil face wash which is supposed to be super gentle so that was basically my routine. Also look into the NARS crystal light reflecting setting powder pressed - I used this as a finishing powder and it gave a really perfected look to the skin- like a filter. I used to get compliments about my skin everytime I used it whilst I was on accutane

Try the It Cosmetics CC+ Cream for a lighter coverage, and the Make Up For Ever stick foundation for a fuller coverage! Both are super hydrating and have a beautifully luminous finish. Also, try adding in a hydrating serum like the one from First Aid Beauty and up your moisturizer to something like the Fresh Rose face cream! Hope this helps! 💕
