Murad vs. Peter Thomas Roth

So I have been using Mario Badescu's 3 step acne line for almost a year now, and I do like it, but I'm ready to try something new. I do like the cleanser, toner, moisturizer (plus spot treatment) system, but I'm willing to try anything. I have naturally oily skin with texture and hormonal breakouts pretty much all the time. I have read lots of great reviews from Murad and Peter Thomas Roth's acne skincare products and was wondering if anyone could vouch for either one over the other and for which products? Or if you had a brand that's better than both! 🙂

RE: Murad vs. Peter Thomas Roth

I will vouch for PTR acne treatment products. I think Murad is a great skincare line BUT I think (and I truthfully own almost all his woman’s skin care products other than the translucent powder sunscreen and I’m going to order it tomorrow, I have red hair and burn almost instantly in the sun and it’s gotten incredible reviews and isn’t greasy etc. moving on to why I believe PTR is far superior to any other skin care brand sold at Sephora, Ulta or any other high end makeup stores(including online) is because as a red head I have fair skin, I still get acne at 33 not terrible but more cystic acne near my jawline and they are painful. I used his acne spot patches that you stick to pimples right before you go to bed and the claim is that whatever is on the stickers pull out the gross pimple “stuff” overnight. The first night I used one on a fairly decent sided cyst on the back of my jawbone... when I woke up in the morning it was still there, I checked and realized that I didn’t flinch when I touched it, I also noticed the pimple looked bigger and got it early upset for a few seconds before I took it off... but when I did take it off expecting that my skin would be very red and irritated where the patch was but what I saw when I pulled it off was MOST of a medium sized cyst(it was basically hard as a rock... I then looked at where it was and noticed one pore that was much bigger than my pores ever are... I literally took a Kleenex, and gently pushed down on 2 sides of the pore and the rest of the cyst just fell out. It’s gross but I mean a miracle. Also... his dead skin rub is amazing. When you have dry skin, especially if it’s getting flakey you open the tube obviously... and squeeze some it out of the tube, and dab it all over your face (you can use your fingers to put it on your skin but it works fast and if you’re hands are dry it starts immediately working on them... anyway..: once you have tiny dabs all over your face or just where it’s really dry and slowly rub your fingers in a circular motion all over but immediately you will feel like it dried up Because as you rub your face the dead skin rolls off on to your fingers and and as you keep rubbing in circular motions all over your face you will see the same stuff rolling into tiny balls all over your face and it’s all dead skin cells and flakey skin. All you is dab, there is no wait you can start rubbing it into your skin immediately and about a second after you start you will see and feel the skin just rolling off. It’s wonderful. AND his masks, not a single one is overrated. And his pumpkin facial scrub I’d heavily... I swear every product that he sells is a small miracle. Sorry this was so long but I’ll never turn down an excuse to turn down recommending people ay least give his line a try. Plus, whatever you buy if you hate it you ulta and Sephora will always take it back and refund you every cent you spent on wherever products you bring back they will take it all back and you can go strait to the Murad section.

Re: Murad vs. Peter Thomas Roth

It sounds like we have pretty similar skin types and I'm obsessed with Ole Henriksen products.  I use the Skin Laundry Gentle foaming cleanser and it's really helped clear up my skin and keep my hormonal breakouts at bay. I then use a drug-store witch hazel toner, followed by the Ole Henriksen Truth Serum and Ole Henriksen Oil Control moisturizer. At night, I use the same cleanser and toner followed by the Ole Henriksen Transforming Night Gel and the Laneige Water Sleeping mask. If my skin has a lot of texture, I use the Ole Henriksen Instant Transformation Lemon Facial Peel.
