Makeup and Beauty Tips

As someone who went through a lot of trouble to find makeup that does not make me break out but also results in a satisfactory finish, here is some advice/recommendations for people going through the same process (by the way I have mixed skin that is oily in some areas but dry in others):

1. People keep saying just use lightweight makeup, but some of us really don't want to go out with red marks and acne showing (not to cause anxiety though, any skin type can be beautiful), so here are some full to medium coverage concealers that I use. They don't cause breakouts and do not result in cakey finishes:

Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Matte Buildable Coverage Waterproof Concealer
Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer with Medium Coverage
(If you want extreme coverage and if you are a make-up pro try MAC concealer palette. It can be a bit cakey, but its coverage is peak. )

2. If you want to protect your skin from too much makeup and just let it heal out a bit while also using some makeup to clean up the look, here is the light weight foundation I use. It doesn't look dry on my mixed skin but also lasts the entire day. :

Yves Saint Laurent NU BARE LOOK TINT Hydrating Skin Tint Foundation with Hyaluronic Acid
Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Natural Glow Foundation (Can be a tiny bit dry but the coverage is better)

3. Acne produces more oil than regular skin, so setting sprays/powders are VERY necessary. If you have dry/flaking skin because of acne and hydraulic acid treatments, use setting spray only on those areas.Use setting spray multiple times throughout your makeup process (after foundation, after concealer, after entire makeup) to achieve most effect. If you have oily skin, use powder. HOWEVER be careful how much you use because powder often end up clogging your pores more. Also do not use other products on top of powder and don't use powder right after you applied liquid products (let it sit for 5 min) because liquid +powder  is often how your make up ends up cakey.

4. Cleansing after makeup is VERY VERY IMPORTANT. Use a makeup remover, then a cleanser. If you don't have dry skin, use a hydraulic acid cleanser. It helps remove makeup. I recomended the Cera-Ve one.

5. Talking about hydraulic acid, almost all acne meds cause dryness and flaking. If you find that a serious issue, switch to a lighter med (less hydraulic acid component or less concentrated med). I highly recommend using moisturisers that help with acne, origins skincare works very well. Also, DO NOT frequently use ones that contain too much alcohol, they are good for rapid relief not daily use. It will end up irritating your skin.

5. DO NOT USE A HEAVY WEIGHT LOTION/MOISTURIZER IF YOU HAVE ACNE PRONE SKIN! Those are not for all people and I've found that they easily cause breakouts on my face.

6. For mixed skin people: to achieve a smooth, dewy look, put a thick layer of moisturiser for 5 min on your dry areas and then wipe it off before you apply primer.
