Hormonal Acne

Hi everyone.

I am currently 23 years old struggling with hormonal acne prone skin. I always get pimples in the same areas, around the outer of my cheeks and along the bottom of my cheeks near my chin. I’ve tried so many different face washes as well as going to the dr, but every time I think I conquer it, it comes back. Especially now that the weather is changing.

I currently just switched from the strongest Panyoxyl face wash to the Inkey List wash. I also use their niacinamide after treatment, and acne spot treatment. I have also been using this mask from Ulta- the hemp jelly anti blemish mask. I use cerva moisturizer as well. Any suggestions?

Re: Hormonal Acne

Hi, @saraholeary3 !  I use salicylic acid, Paula's Choice CLEAR Daily Skin Clearing Treatment with 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide 2.25 oz/ 67 mL (use one in the morning and one in the evening or rotate days), #The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Oil Control Serum 2 oz/ 60 mL , and Tatcha The Water Cream Oil-Free Pore Minimizing Refillable Moisturizer .   If you haven't been to a gyn, I recommend going in for a consultation.  Birth control pills also made a big difference (know that if you go that route, it's like any other medication and you may have to try different brands before you find what works--personal experience talking!).  Also eat a healthy diet, drink plenty of water, and...yuck...exercise.  🙂

Re: Hormonal Acne

I hate to say it, but the only thing that’s regularly worked for me is birth control. I still get hormonal breakouts, but nowhere near as bad or as frequent. Using a benzoyl peroxide topical treatment daily at night has helped as well

Re: Hormonal Acne

Hey! I have really bad acne as well and I’ve done a lot of research on it and it really helps if you double cleanse every morning and night. I’ve been using the ProActive Cleanser and the Inkey List Salicylic Acid Cleanser every morning and night. First I wash my face with the ProActive Cleanser and then after was my face with the Inkey List Salicylic Acid Cleanser, after I’ll gently pat my face dry with a soft hand towel and then I spray the Tower 28 SOS spray on my face 2 times. After I apply the Malin+Goetz moisturizer and then I’m done.
You can buy the ProActive Cleanser at Winners or Superstore for $9, You can buy the Inkey List Salicylic Acid Cleanser at Sephora for $12.99, I bought the mini Tower 28 SOS spray for 16$ I would definitely recommend getting the mini one first and see if you like it cause the full sized one is more pricey, The Malin+Goetz moisturizer is $62 at Sephora it’s a little bit pricey but I 100% recommend it.
All these products are really working for me, I hope they work for you cause I 100% recommend them!

Xoxo
