Help: Removing makeup with acne

Hey guys!!

I’m new so I hope this hasn’t been asked before; How are you guys removing your makeup? I see so many people saying to double cleanse with an oil cleanser, but every time I do I break out terribly! help!

Re: Help: Removing makeup with acne

Hey @locarly and welcome to BIC! The first step of your double cleanse doesn’t have to be an oil cleanser. You can use a cleansing balm or micellar water instead. I know people who’ve used Ponds Cold Cream for several decades; that’s kinda like the OG cleansing balm. And some people just wash twice with a gentle cleanser.

I have mostly-dry combo skin that’s fairly sensitive and quite reactive/inflammation-prone. (In other words, my face is fussy. 😅) I usually remove makeup with either The INKEY List Oat Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm 5 oz/ 150 mL (my favorite cleansing balm) or COSRX Low pH Niacinamide Micellar Cleansing Water (my favorite micellar water). For stubborn budgeproof eye makeup, I use Paula’s Choice Gentle Touch Makeup Remover. There are plenty of other options out there, though. You could try good ol’ Garnier Micellar Water and see how your skin reacts (or doesn’t) to it.

Also, because I’m curious: which oil cleanser did you use? There’s a chance your skin’s sensitive to something in it, depending on the type of breakout you had.

Re: Help: Removing makeup with acne

Thank you so much!! I’m going to try the inkey one and just double cleansing with my regular gentle cleanser !

I was using the dermalogica oil one before, i think they are a good brand so I have no idea what went wrong there, skin is so silly

Thank you so much for the tips 🙂
