Facial Cleanser

I have a 12 year old daughter, she has some acne It's not terrible, her face is oily and she has some fine lines already and i don't know what to get her, does anyone have any recommendations.

Re: Facial Cleanser

@Lily889 First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream-to-Foam Face Cleanser with Colloidal Oatmeal + Glycerin is excellent.  Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Facial Wash is good for budget beauty.   Persa-gel by Clean & Clear is good for spot treatments; target makes a knock off.  BHA is excellent for blackheads.   Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Exfoliating Toner for Clear Skin is a good place to start.  Oil blotting sheets are excellent when used routinely.  Target makes nice ones. innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Detoxing Clay Mask with AHAs + Oil Control 3.38 oz / 100 ml is great for oily skin; I think this version may have been reformulated, tho.  OTC Differin would be a option.   If things still persist, consider Rx strength Differin and see a derm.  Retin-a is also an option.

Re: Facial Cleanser

Cetaphil and Cerave cleansers and moisturizers were my best friends around that age! And I had similar problems with my skin. Not to say it works for everyone but it’s a good start as they are not very harsh on the face

Re: Facial Cleanser

@Lily889 @At that age I was using clearasil face wash.

Re: Facial Cleanser

@Lily889, a Sephora Beauty Advisor can probably help with that.

Re: Facial Cleanser

@Lily889 I'd go with the Cereve Acne Foaming Cream Wash.  Along with that if you think she's getting fine lines that young you may want to consult a dermatologist about those to make sure it's not something other aging.  Most people don't get fine lines starting until their mid 20s.

Does your daughter use any other skin care?  A good moisturizer at night and SPF 30+ during the day would be the only other things I could see someone at that age needing.

Re: Facial Cleanser

Thanks for helping, we got recommended the drunk elephant facial cleanser and the call it a night moisturizer from a staff. I have been thinking about taking her.

Re: Facial Cleanser

@Lily889 While the Drunk Elephant Beste™ No. 9 Jelly Cleanser 5 oz/ 150 mL  would not be likely to hurt her, it's a very basic cleanser and I personally wouldn't spend that much on someone so young.  The Cereve however is specifically made for acne prone skin.  The Drunk Elephant Call It A Night Glycolic Serum + Moisturizer duo is something I would not recommend at all. The Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum that is in that kit is a pretty potent active with AHA's and BHA's.  I wouldn't be putting that on the skin of someone so young.  She'd be running the risk of stripping her skin barrier and irritating her skin more.  Think of it like a chemical burn.  Now the moisturizer in that kit, the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro™ Nourishing Whipped Refillable Moisturizer is a good moisturizer.  I can't see it doing any harm to her skin, but again... I wouldn't be spending that much on a moisturizer for someone so young, who may or may not need one that heavy.  I'd start off with something a bit lighter from the drug store, Cereve and Cetaphil are some great brands.

If your daughter has some fine lines, a good SPF is what a lot of people will tell you is the best anti aging product out there.

If she's just looking to get something from Drunk Elephant because it's a 'cool' brand... do kids still call things cool???  I'd suggest the Drunk Elephant Lippe Balm 0.13 oz/ 3.8 g , It's a good basic lip balm that she could carry with her and pull out for her friends to see, without breaking the bank. They also have a mineral SPF in the Drunk Elephant Umbra Sheer™ Physical Daily Defense SPF 30 .
