Epiduo Forte

I was prescribed Epiduo Forte because I have mild breakouts lately. I also has a concern about textured skin and Large pores and my dermatologist said that it should help all those things. My skin is EXTREMELY EXTREMELY dry no matter what I use. It has also been peeling. How long does it take for this to stop? Also will I always have dry skin using Epiduo Forte or will that go away also?

Re: Epiduo Forte

I would like to preface this by saying that I am not a dermatologist and you would listen to absolutely listen to what they tell you regardless of what anyone else says. That said, you might be using the Epiduo too frequently. Generally if you have acne prone skin and you start to use a strong acne product frequently, your skin gets really dry and starts to peel. Or if you use multiple acne products, like an anti-acne face wash and gel moisturizer for oily skin, your skin can get irritated and peel. Obviously do what your doctor recommended but you could try using the Epiduo gel less frequently or try to use a gentle face wash and moisturizer to calm your skin while it gets use to the Epiduo. It is also possible that you are allergic to one of the ingredients in the Epiduo gel and might need to try something else for your skin. I have attached the links for the moisturizer and face wash that I used to use(and still use actually) when my skin was irritated from acne products. Your skin won't be like that forever. Make sure you re-read the directions to see if the peeling is a normal reaction or the sign of an allergic reaction. If it's normal, then it will probably go away and if it's a sign of an allergic reaction just let your doctor know so you can start using something that works for your skin. Don't worry, your skin will be fine!
