Drunk Elephant Marula Oil for Acne-Prone Skin

I recently purchased the Drunk Elephant marula oil. I have very dry and sensitive skin due to an acne treatment, tretinoin. My skin breaks out from products very easily. Has anyone in my situation tried this oil, and did it work for you? I’ve used it a few times and I think it might’ve started to break me out, but I’m not sure if it was that or a hormonal breakout.

@Gabbyt02 I was nervous about using the marula oil, too since I have heard it causes breakouts for some people. However, I didn't have a problem with it. I only use it during the winter, or when I'm traveling to arid climates. Do you know what kind of products make you break out?

I haven't been able to pinpoint certain things that break me out unfortunately. My skin seems to be really sensitive in general so it's hard to tell.

@Gabbyt02 I've read Marula oil is comedogenic, more than other popular facial oils like argan or rosehip seed. Marula oil has a relatively small molecular size so it absorbs more easily which makes it feel light, but its lipids can cause more congestion so it's not the first oil I would consider if acne prone.

@Gabbyt02  I have very sensitive and acne prone skin and I use  Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Face Oil 1 oz/ 30 mL   I have not had a break out from it. I usually use it after I do my babyfacial on Sunday’s and after I take the babyfacial off my skin is as red as a tomato and it’s very sensitive it burns and it feels awful. I put the Marula oil on and I feel it helps calm my skin down. It’s hard to say if it’s from the oil or from a hormonal break out. I know when I used a trentoin it broke my skin out even more. Has the trentoin been working?  Best of luck!!

The tretinoin has definitely helped improve my skin, but I'm still experiencing a bit of peeling and such. Thanks for input on the marula oil!

@Gabbyt02 I doubled my Tretinoin this fall, and when I was experiencing a lot of dryness and stinging, I used  The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil 1 oz/ 30 mL .  It worked beautifully.  I don't have acne-prone skin, though - I use it more to keep blackheads under control and fight wrinkles proactively.

I haven't tried  Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Face Oil 1 oz/ 30 mL , but I did try Acure's Marula Oil and didn't care for it b/c I didn't think it absorbed well.  IDK how similar the two are, though.
