Dermaplaning Nightmare 😫😫😫

So has anyone else ever had a breakout from dermaplaning? I recently did it and the next thing I know I’ve broken out badly. Now I have dry patches and dark spots on my skin from acne scarring, it’s been almost a month and I feel like nothing I do is working. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? I want my smooth clear skin back 😭😭😭😭

Re: Dermaplaning Nightmare 😫😫😫

Hey! I'm dealing with something very similar and literally no amount of acne products have helped me. I've tried over the counter and prescription medicines and all it did was irritate my skin even more! Up until a week ago, I was using tretinoin for 2 months and when I went in for my follow up at the derm she registered me for Accutane (which I'm completely against). Fast forward to 3 days ago, I was researching what the different causes to my pesky little bumps could be and came across a website called Simple Skincare Science and holy **** I finally have some type of explanation. I HAD FUNGAL ACNE ALL ALONG!!! I'll link the website down below but I really think you should consider everything this guy is saying on his website. I immediately ordered all the products he suggested and I am not kidding, it took one day to get my skin back to normal.

BTW, my skin looks exactly like yours and it was also caused by dermaplaning!!!

This stuff helps me, meltdown Blume face oil, trust me it a life saver, I’m teen and this helps a lot

RE: Re: Dermaplaning Nightmare 😫😫😫

How long did it take to get your skin back to normal? I also did this two months ago and I feel like my skin is getting worse😩 I have bumps all on my side burns, chin and cheeks and at on point my neck. Just hard pimple like bumps but nothing comes out of it.

Re: RE: Re: Dermaplaning Nightmare 😫😫😫

My first piece of advice is to not compare your journey of “clearer skin” to others. My initial breakout was back in June, here we are in December and I’m still on the journey. Of course all of the bumps went away, and I have small bumps here and there; but, the hyperpigmentation aftermath was TERRIBLE. Still trying to clear that up. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Just be patient with your skin. Takes no time for it to break out, but takes forever to clear it up.

Re: Dermaplaning Nightmare 😫😫😫

Hi there ! I had the same exact thing happen too me !!!! Right after I got dermaplaning I broke out with soooo many whiteheads!!! I’ve never had problems with acne what’s so ever it got to the point where I went to my  aesthetician once every week because they would fill right back up after she cleaned my face ! It was crazy ! And the most breakouts I had were on my cheeks and my chin where I had the most hair ! I went to a dermatologist at first the clindamycin worked only for a short period of time ! I also went to two dermatologist because they wanted to put me on a retiNa A I refused because of the stories I heard my skin is already super sensitive I didn’t want to risk it and opt for a milder form which was adaplen 0.2 (differin) it’s helped but my face has been through every side effect dry scaly skin itching redness tightness . It’s been a world wind !!! I’ve spent so much on facials and products I now have to use sensitive everything. Cerve moisturizer/cream has helped me for the dry skin but I use pan oxyl at night and the adaplene every other day and moisturizer and in the morning I use a regular sensitive skin face wash I got from a line called osmosis you can even try Pacifica they sell it at target and I put sun screen on. Make sure you look at the ingredients and make sure it doesn’t have DIMETHICONE! It clogs your pores ! I’m in a battle too ! But we will win ladies and get out beautiful skin we once had back !!! Please message if y’all have any pointers ! Or found anything that helps this ! Please ! I’m still in sure to make this go away .

Re: Dermaplaning Nightmare 😫😫😫

I actually just left my dr because my skin is really bad from it. I had to get a shot of steroids and now I have to take steroids for a week along with topical creams. My DR said this is a beauty trend that she wish will go away. A good percentage of skin will react badly to this BUT you won’t know until you actually get it done. My skin was great for about 2-3 days after and then I broke up and now I’m having hives. I’ll never do this again. 0BFE7C6C-3A5F-4D5D-8BCB-54CC807700B6.jpeg

Mad Hippie oil & Plasma Pen treatments are helping so much.

RE: Re: Dermaplaning Nightmare 😫😫😫

Hi Candace525, Did this go away after you went to the doctors? I got this done two months ago and I feel like it just keeps getting worse?

Re: Dermaplaning Nightmare 😫😫😫

I’m glad you shared this. My skin broke about about 1.5 weeks after my first one. Did you find any solution?

Re: Dermaplaning Nightmare 😫😫😫

OMG.  The SAME thing happened to me when I had my first dermaplain and facial done.  I still have issues and it's been since February 22nd.  It's lessening but still there.  The Esthetician said my skin was 'purging' and it's normal.... I don't know though.  My skin has breakouts now and then (hormonal due to my stupid monthly cycle) but I never had issues this bad.  I don't think I will get a facial or dermaplain again though.I have been using Cetaphil face wash and all gentle cleansers, it's kind of helping?  I am so sorry.  Please if there are others who have advice on how to clear all of this up.  Help!

Re: Dermaplaning Nightmare 😫😫😫

You have ingrown hairs and Whitehead’s from dermaplaning, it’s not for all skin types. Please see a licensed Aesthetician for PCA skin regimen! Works amazing 😉

Re: Dermaplaning Nightmare 😫😫😫

Hi

what is PCA ? I’ll be going for a silkpeel dermalinfusion to hopefully help

still have tiny bumps blackheads everywhere

been using salyclic pads for oil for the last week but I’ve had this since feb

How long did it take for PCA to clear your skin?

Dermaplaning Nightmare 😫😫😫

@Shaela816 what type of blade do you recommend? I love the exfoliation and it has really smoothed my complexion but I get razor nicks....

Re: Dermaplaning Nightmare 😫😫😫

Hi, @Shaela816! I dermaplane pretty consistently - i might be able to answer some of your questions. So sorry about this breakout you've had!

Did you dermaplane yourself? If so, what products did you use?

RE: Dermaplaning Nightmare 😫😫😫

I’ve never done dermaplaning, but this looks suspiciously like razor bumps. I know that the dermaplaning procedure also shaves off hair at the surface level as it it exfoliates dead skin, so these breakouts are most likely the results of your peach fuzz trying to grow back in or trapped oil in the pores from the scraping. Gentle cleansers (try the Simple brand), witch hazel toner and a bit of hydrocortisone cream for any itching or irritation should help a great deal. There’s a product that comes in a blue bottle called Tend Skin Solution for ingrown hairs and razor bumps that I swear by, but it’s alcohol based so use a q-tip to lightly apply the liquid to a few of your bumps to see how your skin reacts. If you have any open cuts on your face, the product stings though, so be careful. Once the bumps start going away, use aloe vera gel or aquaphor to help with your dry patches.
