DE Marula Oil

Am I the only person who seems to have an issue with breakouts with DE's Marula Oil? Reviews are excellent & everyone seems to love this stuff, even oily skin types. My skin is oily, acne prone & sensitive & it has been doing extremely well with the rest of the DE line. Tried the Marula 4 separate times in 10 weeks - pea sized amount at night. All with the same result - breakouts several days. No other new products introduced

Re: DE Marula Oil

GIRL SAME. I use it sparingly and I still break out between my eyebrows. I also don't love the whipped moisturizer, same kind of thing. I also haven't seen crazy amazing results so I'm worried its because I stopped using the ME oil? I've been having more success with FAB products

Re: DE Marula Oil

@lkathrynd I doubt not using the Marula oil is causing you not to see results; sometimes we just need different formulas. Personally, Sunday Riley did nothing for my skin, but the Framboos did wonders. For a while, I thought I was weird because everyone raves about SR, but it's just not for me.

If I were you, I'd just be really excited that I found a cheaper product that worked well on my skin! I think if FAB works better, run with it. There's no reason to force yourself to use a brand just because it's popular if it's not working for you.

RE: DE Marula Oil

Trying to bump up because I have this same problem. I bought the Acid Trip kit and have been loving everything except the marula oil. It makes me break out as well - I just figured out. I kept using it in my night routine, with the framboos, thinking “it can’t be the oil”, but each day this week I’ve been waking up with new bumps on my jawline and chin. Now I’m wondering what to use after the babyfacial and on top of the framboos. Maybe just rosehip oil? I’ve never had a problem with argan or rose hip oil. Any suggestions anyone? Should I buy the protini? Thanks in advance!

Re: RE: DE Marula Oil

@Anonymous I think either of those oils would work. If your skin tolerates them, I don't think there is an "interaction" problem with the DE products. I used an argan/rose hip/apricot kernel oil combo for a while with Framboos, and my skin looked great. I'm trialing the Lapis oil by Herbivore currently and also have no issues.

I have a few DS samples of the Marula oil, but I have yet to use them due to so many stories of people on the boards breaking out from it. I tried a small sample of the Protini and it was fine. A good moisturizer for warmer months for me. Lala is a bit too heavy for my skin, but I will use it in the winter anyway to make sure I'm staying extra moisturized. I would definitely recommend sampling either of their moisturizers first before committing to a FS one. But, if you already have something you like, I don't think you need to use a DE moisturizer with the Framboos & Babyface.

RE: Re: RE: DE Marula Oil

Thank you so much for your help!!! I was thinking I needed the Marula for best efficacy, but I’m glad to hear I really don’t. I have a couple samples of protini and love it. I also have been wanting to try the lapis oil to keep acne at bay. I think I’ll give it a go as well. Thanks again for the advice @snoflakefaerie

@Anonymous I hope things work out. If you end up trying the Lapis oil, let us know what you think of it!

Re: DE Marula Oil

Actually, I cannot use anything with oils, even had breakout from natural cream with macadamia oil. Not sure yet (did not try enough), but even oil washes can cause breakouts for me. So I feel you, I even do not try to use anything oil anymore, and buy lots of sample boxes to try various products.
