Concealer Issues - Advice Needed

First off, I am very pale. Finding a concealer light enough is always a challenge. When I get a pimple, they are big and very red. I do my best to cover them but my pimples never seem to take concealer on them. It always slides off or only will stay on the surrounding area. What am I doing wrong? Are there certain concealers that work better? Liquid vs potted concealer? Brush vs sponge? Techniques and concealer suggestions welcome!

RE: Concealer Issues - Advice Needed

It Cosmetics has a new concealer out for acne prone skin. It's called "bye bye breakout". I've been using it in combination with their bye bye breakout setting powder for a couple of weeks and have had great results! This is hands down the best concealer I've found for covering blemishes, controlling oil, and staying put. I don't think sephora carries it, but you can get it other places or online. You should definitely try it!

I prefer blending with a clean finger to avoid adding any bacteria that may in a brush or sponge. If you put the concealer right on the zit, give it 20 seconds to sit, and then blend with a finger, this will allow for higher coverage and it will stay put longer. I do this for acne and undereye. I'm really pale too and I love the Nudestix concealer and the Cover FX cover click stick. Both brands have a decent amount of shades that go really light and Cover FX accounts for your undertone too.

I have never tried Nudestix and had no idea they went so light. Thanks for the recommendations and the application tips!

Re: Concealer Issues - Advice Needed

Hey! I have issues with acne too, especially cystic acne around my chin/cheek area. I use Nars Radiant Creamy concealer on my acne marks and active acne. It usually stays put pretty well. I put a good primer on first, then my foundation, then the concealer. Sometimes I put the concealer on before the foundation since my concealer tends to be a bit lighter than my foundation, but putting it on after seems to cover better. After that I spray my face with setting spray, let that set and dry, and then put a light dusting of powder on. To apply the concealer I usually pat/dab it on with clean fingers, make sure you don't rub it on, that just kind of smears it around. Also, concealer brushes work well too. Again, if using a brush pat it on and blend out the edges around the spot you concealed. I hope that helped/made sense haha. Also, I'm very pale as well and Nars is definitely light enough for my skin.  (:
