Closed comedones

I have been having lots of bumps on my face and it gives my skin a lot of texture and I searched up what it can possibly be and closed comedones popped up and it looks very similar to what I have. I have tried benzoyl peroxideโ€™s and RetinA but neither of them worked for me. Any skin care recommendations ?

Re: Closed comedones

@CynthiaInterian What's your skin type? Where you layering BP with Retin-a? How long were you using both before stopping? What cleanser, moisturizer and spf are you using?

RE: Re: Closed comedones

I have combinations skin , with Retina I would use during the night time since my dermatologist suggested that and BP I would use in the morning , currently now I use a drugstore product which is the aveeno ( Clear Complexion ) , moisturizer I use clean and clear , I donโ€™t really use sunscreen at all.

Re: RE: Re: Closed comedones

Ok, layering BP and retin a can cause ineffectiveness. Those both can cause sun sensitivity, spf is a must (even on cloudy days)..also the best anti ager ๐Ÿ™‚

I would stop both Aveeno and Clean and Clear, they may be clogging your skin. Both also contain acne ingredients, too much of similar ingredients can backfire. Do you want drugstore or Sephora recommendations?

I would use a gentle non acne ingredient cleanser, moisturizer and spf. One leave on treatment- if you still have retin a, use that at night, apply 30 mins after washing (let dry) before moisturizing, and use for a good 3 months. If you already did all that, the percentage could be too low or you need another percentage/different type of retinol.

You could also get a series of chemical peels done, usually tailored to your skin vs otc. Dermatologist would be where to start, if right for you.

Ok thank you so much for letting me know about the retin A and bp I wasnโ€™t as informed apparently and Iโ€™m willing to pay a good price for a good working product so either a Sephora product or drugstore would be fine Iโ€™m just trying to see if anything can help with my skin

Welcome. I tend to ask every question at the doc's ๐Ÿ™‚

I use prescription Differin, the lowest percentage is otc. It's a different strand of retinol, so use at night.

Cleanser, PHILOSOPHY - Purity Made Simple Cleanser Neutrogena fresh foaming, La Roche Posay hydrating

Moisturizer, Neutrogena oil free moisture sensitive, theres a combination version but I found a bit drying on dehydrated parts. Clinique.

Spf, Cotz, Elta MD, Australian Gold Botanicals

Dr Gross for at home peels. Do at night, but not daily.

Remember Sephora and department stores give samples.
