Acne scar

I have acne scars and acne, I have combination skin and I am 16. I currently skin cycle and that has helped my acne but I still have acne scars. Here's my current routine

Am

  1. I wash my face with water in the morning
  2. Tower 28 rescue serum
  3. CeraVe a.m facial moisturizer with sunscreen SPF 30

Pm

  1. La Roche posey tolerance face wash
  2. Watermelon glow pores tight toner only on exfoliation nights
  3. Tower 28 rescue serum
  4. Cerave resurfacing retinol serum
  5. Cerave p.m night facial moisturizer

I have two recovery nights that don't include the toner or the retinol

I would recommend you use a serum with niacinamide that will help fade away your acne scarring and help combat your active acne. Niacinamide helps to even out the skin tone that may have discoloration, hyperpigmentation, or from constant picking of the face that leaves dark scarring. It will help to reduce the appearance of blemishes and enlarged pores to improve textured skin by tightening lax or stretched-out pores. It also restores the skin’s defences against moisture loss and dehydration. By strengthening the skin barrier and diminishing the dullness of the skin. Niacinamide can be used both in the A.M. and P.M. I would recommend during the A.M. use to follow with a moisturizer and then SPF 30+ to protect the skin.

The first serum I used to help improve acne scarring is The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Oil Control Serum 1oz/30ml. This serum is amazing it has done wonders for me, especially as someone who was once a face picker. When I would have fresh blemishes that had been picked away at until I could only see dark spots on my face, this serum was like a God Send for real. It would start to fade immediately and the progression was so fast, within a month you can see a difference. I will say my first application of this serum on my skin, I felt a bit of a stinging sensation. But I believe that was felt because up until that point I had never used niacinamide on my skin before. By the third day, I no longer felt a stinging sensation. This is something I just wanted to point out to keep in mind. It also helps that the price of this serum is super affordable, so you don't have to worry about overspending.

The second serum I used to help with this issue is First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Niacinamide Dark Spot Serum 1oz/30ml. This serum is also great as well, especially for those who have acne-prone skin and frequently get blemishes all the time. It has a lightweight feel but it is a bit thick, so be conservative with the amount you use. I am not a huge fan of the bottle dropper for application because the product tends to get stuck in it which is annoying at times. So you have to squeeze more frequently than you should have to in my opinion. The results do in fact work fast because I started to see improvement in my skin within 2-weeks. You must stay consistent to see long-term improvements in your skin with this serum.

For the best application of both serums, take only a pea-sized amount and apply when the face is semi-damp so it could spread across the face easier all down to the neck. I hope this helps with your skin journey.

Re: Acne scar

i don't think you need retinol at 16 but do recommend the exfoliation

how is the watermelon glow toner working for you? i am using ALPYN 2% BHA Pore Perfecting Liquid Exfoliator for Brighter & Clearer Skin 4 oz / 118 mL 3x/week to help with my acne and pores and i love that it's very hydrating - it's great for sensitive skin barrier

Re: Acne scar

I like the watermelon pork tight toner so far and it has helped a lot in the short amount of time I've used it

Re: Acne scar

I have the same problem and just started using the Murad 30 day acne fighting set. So far it has worked really well and my pimples are mostly gone. It has a scar and acne treatment so this might work well for you👍

Re: Acne scar

Is your scarring hyperpigmentation or textural, @mist258?

Re: Acne scar

It's Textural

Re: Acne scar

For textural scars, @mist258, I'd look into adding an AHA three or so nights a week after your cleanser, before any hydrating products. I would probably start with a lactic acid (though if your skin is overly sensitive, mandelic may be better a starting point. Glycolic is the strongest of the three, so I would wait to build up to that one if necessary).
