Acne Prone Oily Skin Routine

Hello, I need some help in creating a step by step skin care routine that I can follow to help reduce breakouts and help the scaring left behind from them. I'm 19 and I have oily skin. I mostly have acne on my cheeks and chin, resulting in scarring and redness. I also have some texture issues from the scaring, and bigger pores around my nose, and blackheads on my nose. At the moment I am kind of stuck in looking for a new routine because I got off of an intense benzoyl peroxide treatment prescribed by my doctor that dried out my skin, but took a significant amount of scaring away. But now without it, I'm breaking out all over again and gaining all of those scars back. I love to wear make-up and use every precaution to try and prevent breakouts because of it. If anyone could help me in responding with a skin care routine that includes whatever I'd need, from the makeup remover, moisturizer, cleanser, toner, facial-oils, face masks, etc. in the order of use and frequency of each product it would be greatly appreciated! Also, if possible try to make it inexpensive? I am 100% willing to invest in my skins betterment, so it is okay for it to be on the expensive side, but I am a broke college student at the same time. If any other information is needed I am glad to give it. Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: Acne Prone Oily Skin Routine

I have been on Doxycycline for a few months now and it has changed my life.

My Doctor said it works like Accutane, but without having every health ailment possible, as a side effect.

I don't have terrible skin, but it isn't fabulous either.

My my skin routine I do the following:

I remove my makeup with Clinique's 'Take The Day Off' Cleansing Balm (Coconut Oil is pretty much the same thing).
Then I follow up with a gentle cleanser for sensitive skin by Marcelle's. Similar to Cetaphil.

Every three days I exfoliate with Vasanti Brighten Up Cleanser (a Canadian company that ships worldwide). Similar would be the Clinique's Turnaround Revitalizing Instant Facial or Biore's Pore Unclogging Scrub.

For a daytime moisturizing I use the basic daily Olay for Combo skin with SPF.

Now for nighttime, just go with me on this one....

I use Castor Oil. Straight off the pharmacy shelf Castor Oil. I love it. It helps to fight acne, moisturizes and fight wrinkles.

Good luck on finding your perfect routine!!!

I would try The Ordinary's Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% - helps with blemishes/brightening and sebum control ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: Acne Prone Oily Skin Routine

Hi! I have combo to oily skin and my usual morning routine would be:
1.) Cetaphil Cleanser; very gentle & little to no order
2.) Thayer's Aloe Vera Toner or their Rose infused toner
3.) Acne spot treatment from Target (salicylic acid)
4.) It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Eye Cream (very sparingly since you don't need a lot anyways and it's expensive)
5.) Farmacy Honey Drop (very lightweight moisturizer that doesn't feel oily) or First Aid Beauty's Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer
6.) Supergoop's Sunscreen (the lightest sunscreen I've ever tried to be honest)
and then from there I do my makeup when my skin feels dry enough

My night time routine is:
1,2,4.) I skip #3 since it doesnt mix well with my step 5

5.) Face Mask (Aztec Clay Mask from Amazon is super cheap and works wonders on oily skin! Do not use metal to mix the mask or hold it in a bowl since it will activate the bentonite clay before it hits your skin. Any charcoal or clay mask will help a lot!)
6.) The Ordinary's Retinold serum (it helps with my pigmentation & skin texture)

7.) Moisturizer (Shisedo 24 Hr Benefiance Cream is expensive but works well OR Farmacy's)

Hope this helps!
