100 Days of Lipstick Challenge

Hi BIC!

A lot of us have talked about our huge lipstick collections, and with the passing of another National Lipstick Day, I took stock of mine. I have about 200 lipsticks and glosses and realized, I only wear about 20 of them! So I'm challenging myself (and whoever else wants to join) to use more of them. I'm going to try to wear a different lipstick every day for the next 100 days.

@WinglessOne so pretty!!!  I like that these aren’t drying.  I tend to avoid mattes because they’re drying but this looks so velvety and tempting.

Thanks @heartsmyface! Gucci has one of the few velvet matte bullet formulas I don’t find drying on my lips. They did a good job with it. I do still wear lip balm underneath, but I do that with nearly all other lipsticks (including satins and liquid creams) anyway because my lips are sand dunes otherwise.

@heartsmyface Fabulous combination! I really want to try one of the haus labs lip oils in a different shade other than clear, but ai can't justify it until I start decluttering or use a few up..This shade is tempting me! I am loving your hair...the volume and layers!!

Lipstick 274: Laura Mercier High Vibe Lip Color shade Pop.

I’m a sucker for fuchsias with a blue or violet flip. One of my favorite lipstick shades ever is Urban Decay Vice (bullet) Firebird, the 3rd lipstick I wore for this challenge. When UD reformulated their Vice bullets, Firebird wasn’t carried over to the new shade lineup and I was crushed. Then I tried the new Vice formulation and was doubly crushed because I don’t like it; even if UD ever brings Firebird back, I won’t buy it in that formula. (And no, UD Jilted is not a dupe. I’ve done lip swatch comparisons to prove it. 😅) Also, Firebird is one of my chronic bleeders: that bullet feathers and bleeds like nobody’s business. Still, I’m holding on to my old bullet until I’ve used it up. 

Last year, Laura Mercier introduced their High Vibe Lip Color line of slim bullet lipsticks. Shade Pop is an EXACT dupe (color wise) of Firebird! In a super comfy formula! That doesn’t bleed/feather at all! And it’s long wearing with a very graceful weardown and beautiful stain! I was super happy when I found this shade. 💜 I really should ditch Firebird since I have a perfect replacement but, well, nostalgia. I think one day I’ll finally get fed up with the bleedproofing required to wear Firebird, and then I’ll declutter it. Meanwhile, I hope LM doesn’t discontinue the High Vibe lipsticks or shade Pop.

@WinglessOne  Aw darn about the bleeding.  I have a clear lip liner from UD that I use outside my lip line  if I want to wear a bleeding lipstick.  I can’t seem to find it to link it but I found a Sephora collection one.   It helps keeps the bleeding under control SEPHORA COLLECTION Beauty Amplifier Clear Universal Waterproof Lip Liner 0.04 oz/ 1.2 g

@heartsmyface  Yeah, when I first posted Firebird in this thread, I complained about the bleeding—and that was in 2018. 😂 I always use MAC Cosmetics Prep + Prime Lip Primer 0.05 oz/ 1.7 g plus a colored lip liner to keep Firebird under control. In fact, I always use MAC’s lip primer as a clear liner to stop lipsticks from bleeding/feathering, though some lipsticks can’t be controlled. 

I’ve tried UD’s Ozone liner/primer but, for me, it doesn’t work nearly as well as MAC’s. Somewhere in this thread is my lip swatch photo of Smashbox Be Legendary Liquid Lipstick shade Iced Out (an even worse bleeder than Firebird) where I compared both primers head to head. MAC won. I know many folks love UD’s though. I’m glad it works well for you!

@WinglessOne  They only help so much but they do stop any serious bleeding.  
oh I haven’t used that primer in so long!!!  I used to love it and forgot all about it!   I used to wear it in its own as well as as a primer!  I should see if I can rekindle an old love:)
