Has anyone been successful with a Weekly Make-up Rotation? If you haven't heard of this idea... it helps avoid using the same make-up products each and every day, without giving the rest of your makeup stash a chance! This is a great way to "shop your stash" and rediscover great products (you DID buy each products for a reason, right?!
) I love the idea of this because it helps get you out of your comfort zone and switch up your look each week. I know my makeup looks pretty much the same everyday for work... I always just reach for my NAKED palette. So, I'm up for the challenge!
Basically, you choose your makeup for the week (face, eyes, lips, etc) and switch it up with different products the next week, and continue each week after that! Of course it's okay to repeat some products - for example, I only use one foundation... so I will repeat that product each week. I thought this would be perfect to start early during the week so that we can really get a chance to complete it!
I've tried this before, but sometimes I'd be running late for work and end up reaching for my "comfort" products! I'm determined to stick to this! ![]()
Here is what I chose for this upcoming week:
1. SEPHORA Mineral Loose Powder Foundation in Medium 25 and Tan 26.
2. Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer in Light Medium.
3. NARS Blush in Orgasm (I can't even REMEMBER the last time I used this!).
4. UDPP.
5. Inglot neutral eye shadow palette.
6. Bobbi Brown Long-wear Gel Eyeliner in Caviar Ink (I had trouble with this one last time. When I was in a hurry, my liquid pen liner was so much faster to apply than gel liner!)
7. Benefit BADgal Lash Mascara (I will be tossing this one out after this week! Project 10 Pan! Too bad I LOVE this mascara).
8. EOS Lip Balm in Summer Fruit.
9. NYX Lip Liner in Nude Pink.
10. MAC Wonder Woman Lip Stick in Marquise D' (haven't used this in awhile and I LOVEE it!).
11. Smashbox Lip Gloss in Brown Sugar.
I am SO SO excited for this rotation! I keep all the products in one place (make-up bag) to remember what I've chosen.
Once we're done, ladies, we get to put everything back and shop our stash for the following week!
Can't wait to see your lists! Also, fill me in if you have been able to keep up with it =)

Hey ladies, mind if I join you? I seriously need to give the rest of my makeup stash a chance. We recently got new bedroom furniture and it bumped my makeup drawers away from my vanity, keeping my lazy self from reaching into the stash and looking for anything. I think leaving out a bin of products to use that week and then rotating them would be fair! I'll go home tonight and look at what this week will look like!

Last week's rotation went fairly well. Here are my choices for this week's lineup:
Face
- Smashbox HD Concealer in Light
- TheBalm Balm Shelter TM in Light/Medium -I'll use this for another week or two. I plan on ordering some pressed powder foundation tomorrow.
- Bare Minerals Blush in Beauty
- Urban Decay Razor Sharp Finishing Powder mini
- Urban Decay De Slick Mattifying Powder as needed -since the weather is changing, I've not been using it much.
Eyes
- UDPP
- Urban Decay Urban Ammo Palette -I think the neutrals, Mildew and Last Call work well for Fall.
- Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Zero
- Sephora Nano Eyeliners in 05 Chocolate and 16 Azure
- Rimmel London Special Eyes liner in 130 Ivy -It's the size of a Sephora Nano liner now lol.
- Urban Decay Big Fatty Mascara
- Flirt! Brow Gell
Lips
- Smashbox Nude Lip Liner in Fair
- Urban Decay Ultraglide Gloss in O
- Kat Von D Painted Love Lipstick in Cathedrel
- Flirt! Glamourazzi Extreme Lip Lacquer in Pop Star
Perfume
Pulse by Beyounce. It was an early bday present from my boyfriend. I don't know who likes the smell of it more, me or him lol.

My boyfriend's mom also uses Estee Lauder's liquid foundations (I think that's what I'm thinking of) that go through age ranges. She seems to really like them.

I haven't really tried Estee Lauder makeup other than the lipstick/lipglosses, but I didn't really like the smell of them. For some reason, the powdery rose smell (best way to describe it, I guess) reminds me of my grandmother. That was what one of the bathrooms at her house when I was younger used to smell like. I have tried their skincare though and LOVE the Advanced Night Repair serum. I swear, whenever I used it, any potential lines on my forehead that threatened to develop DISAPPEARED completely. It's great! 30 next month and I have no expression lines on my forehead.
(It probably doesn't hurt that I get carded a lot because people don't believe I'm over 21, either.)
And yes, a $20+ mascara should be dramatic. Try Buxom's Amplified Lash for that effect! $22 and seriously looks GOOD.

@sephoramusthave I tried Estée lauder's double wear cream shadow at a counter and it seemed really nice! Didn't crease and seemed to be long wearing (but I only had it on a few hours before I took it off)

@sephoramusthave I've only tried a couple of their products. The lipglosses came in a set of 4 that my boyfriend's aunt gave me for Christmas. Closing in on a year, and their consistancy and scent didn't change. I reapply a few times a day with it, but I didn't use a lip primer. They don't taste half bad either lol. I've also tried their eyeshadow primer. It works, but no where near as well as UDPP.
My boyfriend's mom also uses some Estee Lauder products, and she has for quite some time. She doesn't use an eyeshadow primer, but I've not seen her eyeshadow crease on her. Even when I went camping with them, she brought her Estee Lauder palette with her and it seemed to last pretty well.

kimmi---What do you think about the quality of Estee Lauder makeup? I didnt look twice at their skincare last time in Bealls but I was very interested in trying their cream shadows or lipsticks.

@jxw200 Perhaps some mascaras over $20 should be dramatic. Urban Decay Big Fatty can be depending on how you use it.
@waterbaby1981 Doubled majored in math and economics?! Dang! Since you fix stuff around the house, he can balance the checkbook and whatnot. Numbers are not my thing lol.
I finished off the 2 Estee Lauder lipglosses already! There wasn't much left in them at all lol. No matter how hard I try, I can never get it all off the sides. That's how companies get you to buy more sooner lol. Since I those 2 off, I'll get to wear my Vampire Vixen gloss more this week before Halloween

kimmi1115: my husband is NOT a power tool person. Seriously. I think I'm probably better with those than he is. I fix our computers too, so he's not necessarily technologically inclined either. He's a got a definite head for numbers (he double-majored in math and economics) and he's a gamer. So....you know who probably knows how to fix more things in our house. Although he did fix the kitchen sink when it was leaking a year or so ago! And yes, I hope I get that job too, I should hear from them by Thursday if I get a second interview.
jxw200: Yeah, I was surprised about the Inimitable mascara too, and that was with the Chanel lash primer underneath, no less. Wore the lash primer with the Laura Mercier Full Blown Volume and Clinique High Lengths mascara today and checked my makeup before I took it off about 20 minutes ago to check for any mascara flaking and there was none whatsoever. So yeah, back to Nordstrom it goes, right after I take the husband's mustang convertible to finally get licensed and through DEQ tomorrow. Considering it hasn't been running for awhile and needed to be licensed in May....yeah. Must be done. And I will scream and pull the car over right quick if another huge furry jumping spider comes out from the vent like it did last year! Dan said it probably won't happen again....never say that, because then it WILL. And he wonders why I tell him to license his own **bleep** car.

I like too face lashgasm so far but I don't know if I'd repurchase. It's so long wearing but its not super dramatic. I think it's nice for every day and you can build it if you wiggle your wand. Actually I love it as an everyday option that makes my lashes stand out but not look fake/covered in mascara. But I can't decide if i think $20+ mascara should be dramatic?
My bf and I are going to sf and I think I packed too much makeup :/ lol but maybe I'll actually use it since I'm not rushing off too work! (haven't used anything at all so far this week!)

@waterbaby1981 I'm sure your husband wouldn't do that. Just send him to Sears to play with power tools or something lol. I hope you get the job at Sephora. You'll have to keep us posted. Fingers crossed! I like using an entire palette in my rotations as well. I get a decent variety of options while maintaining to use just one palette through the week.

Guys...PLEASE don't give my husband any ideas! Hahaha...he'll read whatever I'm replying over my shoulder and I can just picture him seeing this and then DOING it next time I go. If I get the job at the downtown Sephora...that would be a Very Bad Idea if he did it.
As for Nordstrom returns, I have one now! The Chanel Inimitable mascara. Hate it. It clumps way too easily and flaked in a BIG way. I had to wipe off flakes when I got home from my massage and adjustment at the chiropractor and it actually smeared a little as well. The other mascaras I've used (Buxom, Amplified Lash; LM full blown volume, waterproof; Clinique High Lengths, High Impact, Curling and Lash Power; and Sephora Full Action have NEVER done that. Seriously. Unless I slept with it on, which normally doesn't happen.
As for the rotation:
Still managing to use the Naked palette (gunmetal and creep today though...this is why I chose a palette, to force me to use the other colors too!)
Laura Mercier primer (testing to see if it's going to make my face flush. So far so good though. The Clinique Redness Solutions primer managed to keep my face feeling normal all day yesterday! Yay!)
Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation (wait, am I supposed to be doing the TM? Oh well.)
Dior Skinflash highlighter
Chanel Eclat Lumiere
LM secret brightening powder, translucent loose setting powder
Nars Torrid and Sephora Rambling Rose blushes
UD eyeliner (zero, should use it more often)
LM full volume mascara mini and Clinique High Lengths mascara
Clinique Super Strawberry Chubby Moisturizing Balm with Bamboo Pink layered over it (need a nude lip to go with my smokey eyes!)

@katie723 LOL!
I can see my bf doing that lol. I've not seen him throw them that I recall. During the Holiday shopping season, that would be hilarious lol. But not on Black Friday. People go psycho on that day lol.
I'm not too fond of the UD finishing powder, mainly because of the packaging. What on Earth were they thinking? I don't know if I'm even using it right lol. I use the jar/spongey top and "plop" some on face, and then I use my fluffy Sephora brush to buff and blend. For around my eyes, I'll pat my brush on the annoying spongey top to get some of the powder and buff it around my eyes, mainly underneath where my concealer is. I'm only using the mini cause it came with the Bride Set. Once it's gone, I probably won't purchase a full size.
@jxw200 I'm surprised your bf got caught lol. I don't think those beads are glass either. They remind me of the silica beads that are in the "Do Not Eat" baggies lol. Next time I'm at Sephora, I'll have to do a bead tossing experiment to see how the employee thinks they're glass.
How do you like the Too Faced Lashgasm mascara?

@kimmi LOL! my bf and my guy cousins LOVE those beads! my bf puts them in his pocket and throws them at people for the rest of the day! hahahaa ![]()
what a fun rotation!
how do you like the UD razor sharp finishing powder?? i finally discovered how to use it today... but its suuuper light! i tried it on my hand and i was scared it might be too light for my face!
@waterbaby nice rotation! you have a lot of neat products! does nordstrom have a generous return policy like sephora??
as for my rotation, im using the same products as last week and adding a new NYX slide on/glide on eye pencil in Brown! i got it for free at a beauty conference i went to yesterday
i love it on my waterline!! i aplogize for my lack of rotation this week... im really trying to finish up my products! ![]()

The items in my rotation this week are:
Shiseido Eye and Face sunblocks
Clinique Redness Solutions primer (Bought this last night...does this still count as a pass? I'm trying to see if this will help with the reactive redness flareups I'm getting along with the Origins stuff. So far it seems to be working.
)
Laura Mercier Iluminating tinted moisturizer (oops, I used my Chanel foundation this morning. Trying to use this up, it's on my 10 pan list!)
Dior Skinflash highlighter pen
Chanel Eclat Lumiere (works great under the Dior skinflash, actually. Got a new one.)
LM secret brightening powder
UDPP
Sephora blush in Romantic Rose
Nars blush in Torrid
LM translucent loose setting powder
Naked Palette (Naked, Sidecar, Sin and Virgin)
UD 24/7 eyeliner pencil in Deviant
Chanel eyelash primer
Chanel Inimitable mascara (haven't decided if I like this yet, but had an unopened one laying around for a while. We'll see this week if I like it or not and take it back to Nordstrom if I don't.)

@jxw200 you should have taken a pic =P or start a new post with your experience and we could all have our bf/brother/dad/cousin/uncle/etc try it hahaha!
you're totally right, blending the oil-free LM TM is kind of a pain... but it's do-able. i use my fingers and just blend the heck out of it! lol. i haven't tried the regular version. you know, when i first had a nordstrom SA apply the foundation on me, she used the hydrating primer and OMG it went on sooo smoothly! i dont use a primer, but the oil-free TM made me consider it. but i still love it =) it is a bit too DRY for my liking, so i just use a finishing spray (MAC Fix+) to create an almost dewy finish =)
the butter london polishes are pretty good, but i wouldn't purchase them full price! if you go to Ulta right now, they are buy 2, get 1 free! that's the only reason why i purchase them. oh, and because i had store credit =) so i got 3 for $30. China Glaze is a great brand, too! There are a couple Beauty Supply stores near my house where many of the nails salons purchase their nail polishes. The China Glazes are like $1.50 and OPI are like... $2? Something crazy like that. They do have a good selection, but none of the new collections. That's wear I get most of my polishes
or Forever 21! ![]()

yeah... i can't think of the last time i put on makeup on daily in the morning. Maybe sophomore year of high school? or that couple months in middle school when i first got into makeup? geez, if that's the case then that's 10 years at least. haha.
but today i did manage to put on clinique lid smoothie in cashew later! and then all day at work i was rubbing my eyes bc i forgot i had anything on. lol. (also it doesn't help that we need new air filters & today chicago is super hazy from wildfire in minnesota so my eyes were itchy lol) ugh
