Happy New Year, BIC! Weโre kicking off 2024 with an important reminder: we all need to take good care of ourselves โ this year and beyond. ๐ Some of us may make resolutions, and others may already have their regular routines down to a tee; regardless of where you are in your self-care journey, we could all use a few extra reminders and a bit of motivation to spend a little extra T.L.C. on ourselves!
Like similar posts from previous years, weโve come up with a list of weekly prompts to challenge you to exercise your self-care skills in different ways. ๐งก We encourage you to participate and respond to the prompts that speak to you โ and donโt be afraid to share any other self-care tips and tricks along the way!
Hit the โReplyโ button below and let us know how you are practicing self-care! ๐คฉ Be sure to use the โ#โ to tag any products relevant to your answers, if applicable.
Last year I really focused on my hair heath and tried a lot of new products. I have always been afraid to use oil in my hair because it is fine and thin. JVN Complete Pre-Wash Scalp & Hair Strengthening Treatment Oil 1.7 oz/ 50 mL completely changed how I feel about oils because it didnโt weigh my hair down. I also started using Kรฉrastase Elixir Ultime Hydrating Hair Oil Serum 3.4 oz/ 100 mL or Verb Ghost Weightless Oil to Fight Frizz and Enhance Shine on just the ends every night. K18 Biomimetic Hairscience Leave-In Molecular Repair Hair Mask 1.7 oz/ 50 mL has made a big difference in my overall hair health. I use it every 2 weeks. Sleeping on a silk pillowcase and using a satin bonnet has helped so much with frizziness. I try to do a hair mask at least once a week. Redken All soft and amika Mini Soulfood Nourishing Mask 3.3 oz/ 100 mL are my favorites. I finally found my favorite conditioner Redken All soft, but I am still searching for my favorite shampoo.
Pretty hair care line up @faeriegirl. Do you have a preference between the Kerastase and Verb hair oils?
@itsfi I feel like the Kerastase works better for me and I love the scent!
@faeriegirl You have a great hair routine and are using amazing products. What do you look for in an ideal shampoo?
Thanks @Mellmars1185 ! I want something that gives some volume, doesnโt dry out my hair, and helps me go more than a day before I have to wash it again. A great scent would be nice too.
@faeriegirl Those sound like the same things I look for. I like a good lather. Have you tried the OUAI Detox Shampoo ? I find that detox shampoos help my hair last longer between washes. A hairdresser once told me that you can wash your hair, half rinse it and then build up the lather again to get almost a 'double shampoo' in.
I have tried it @Mellmars1185 . I like the K18 Biomimetic Hairscience PEPTIDE PREPโข Clarifying Detox Shampoo 8.5 oz / 250 mL a little bit better than the Ouai.
You have a lovely hair lineup @faeriegirl ๐คฉ
I've been curious in the past about Kรฉrastase Mini Elixir Ultime Hydrating Hair Oil Serum 1.7 oz/ 50 mL , it sounds really good! I and a big fan of Verb's ghost oil too, it's a very fine hair friendly product. ๐
My biggest and also happily affordable scalp secret is โจ The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Serum for Hair Density 2 oz/ 60 mL.โจ
I use two drops of this nightly. I just tilt my head back and apply it to my temples, and gently massage it into my scalp. It absorbs by morning and leaves my scalp feeling great ( and less itchy. ๐)
@CynthieLu, so great to find a product you love. Bonus points that it's affordable.
Love this! Itโs such a great thought to leave in over night! Amazing!
Right? Happy off it helps you girl! @peculiarzmakeup ๐โญ
it certainly does! Thank you ๐
@CynthieLu I keep hearing great things about this product.
I like that only 2 drops a night, the bottle lasted a very long time too. ๐ @Mel231
@CynthieLu not sure if this is a concern for you or not, but do you find it helps with volume and hair thickness? I wanted to try this as part of my routine to combat my super fine/thin hair, but Iโm not sure if it works for that type of purpose.. although a nice feeling scalp by morning might be enough on its own to give it a try ๐
@cianni I do have very fine hair, so thickness is a concern for me too. ๐ This product has caffeine and for me, it helps reduce hair fall when I use it consistently. I find my hair was fuller after months of use. (only by a little thou) What keeps me using it, is how healthy my scalp feels and my hair seems to be in better shape as it grows out.
I really liked OUAI Hydrating Scalp Serum for Healthy, Fuller Looking Hair 2 oz / 60 mL when I used it last year, and after a few weeks my hair looked fuller. ( had better volume) But it's just less affordable for me for the long term.
@CynthieLu even a little extra fullness is something Iโll take! I also have the OUAI Hydrating Scalp Serum for Healthy, Fuller Looking Hair 2 oz / 60 mL and really like it too, but i agree, for long term/daily use, the Ordinary is less than half the price!
Week 5: hair and scalp care
Before each workout (which is also a form of self-care ๐) I apply a hair mask to my dry hair. The warmth from the workout helps the mask penetrate my hair, and the mask protects my hair from sweat. Right now I am using amika Soulfood Nourishing Hair Mask .
Once a week, I use a scalp scrub or clarifying shampoo, followed by a mask. I have been using shu uemura Ashita Supreme Purifying Sea Salt Scalp Scrub 11.4 oz/ 325 g , followed by K18 Biomimetic Hairscience Leave-In Molecular Repair Hair Mask 1.7 oz/ 50 mL .
@Mel231 I like how you habit stack hair masking and working out! I am all for self care ๐ช
