Hi!  I’m Arti ,53,  and really started being more interested in make up, maybe about two or three years ago.  I’m really enjoying discovering new products.  Still struggling on finding a perfect foundation shade match!!  I gravitate a lot of blush and skin products.  With kids in college I now have time to play around with make up and working on application skills.  
looking forward to learning from you all, and hopefully I can help someone too!

if I could splurge it, I think I would go#ysl especially their blushes!

I can appreciate what you said about finding a good foundation match - it can be a struggle - and so true about store lighting versus outdoor, natural light, and also oxidation. There are definitely a few factors to consider when trying to find a shade match, but you're taking all the right steps; I feel like it's one of those things where trial and error seems to be the way for most of us. Wondering if maybe getting samples of a couple shades or foundations to take home with you to test out might be helpful - that way you can see how the foundation wears throughout a typical day for you, or as typical as a day can be for any of us. You can also see how long it wears, whether it oxidizes, slides off, is better in certain conditions, etc. 

Another option (either in addition to the above or in lieu of it) could be to purchase ($10) the Sephora Favorites Complexion Try-On Sample Bag With Redeemable Voucher, if your shade range is available. There are samples of foundations to try and a voucher for $10 to be applied to the purchase of a full size foundation or concealer. The product page says there is enough product in the sample packet for "one full-face application." To find out the shade included, pick the shade range / color and then on the image you can scroll to the right and it will take you to a screenshot that lists the brand and shade include in that particular packet. [If that wasn't clear, please let me know and I can clarify, or try to].

Oh, YSL blushes are an excellent splurge choice - their blushes are beautiful - the product themselves and the packaging!!! Do you have a preference for their powder or liquid blushes? Or both? 😊

Thanks for the suggestion!!  As for blushes I tend to like both!  I’m also curious about Armani cheek liquid also!  Maybe the next sale.

Hi!

I have tried to go into Sephora twice to get shade matched. It looks great in the store but in real lighting doesn’t. I’m S. Asian with medium tan skin. I think I err more towards neutral or the foundation oxidizes on me.  I tried Lancôme with the white cap and nars light reflecting foundation.  Now they sit on my counter 😬

@Adp16 @My suggestion for in store is to let it sit on your skin and browse around for a little bit. Then turn on your phone light and look in the mirror and see if it’s your correct shade.

   ALL my ladyyyys (u darn right, ma gents lol) what is GOOD?! Obv's way to excited to be newb here. Oh well 🤣 OLD age is super over sensitive and very F-R-A-G-I-LLLL-È (A Christmas Story.. u know, THAT LEG??!!) 

   I digress. Van here. Single Parenting 2 amazing honors students in high school in southern United States. 

   A good analogy (from my perspective) in reference to my skin in general but especially my face- and the effect tht the environment here in NC, USA has upon said face would be equivical of envisioning a HELLA HOT jungle but unlike any nonsensical hotness youve ever known kinda SAUNA jungle- child im talking soo hot its impossible to breathe outside or even ACTUALLY SEE anything because even your EYEBALLS SWEAT heat and humidity. Know imagine adding actual the RAYS FROM THE SUN on top.

Yea. My face is DESTROYED. Not only did I grow up on the beach and I have skin damage, hyperpitation or piggyration whatever and scarring from 21 yrs on the beach in the sun, but NOW - at almost 50, and I work outside as a male lady and I i really don't think there's any coming back from this

If y'all have any advice for me, I will really appreciate it. And I don't have any family, so I welcome this community-

After an inheritance almost a decade ago I once splurged on a $900 bottle of Snail juice some sort. It was an unreal experience that made me feel like a dam badass every time I used it.

Heyyyyy I get bad acne but I’m in my tweens but I use dermalogica and it clears my skin in like 2 ish weeks I think it would help you !!
