2025 Skincare Check-In Challenge: LAST Week! - Don't forget hand + foot care

January Challenge visual_010825.jpg

Happy New Year, BIC! We’re stepping into 2025 with a crucial reminder: we must take special care of ourselves — this year and EVERY year. Some of us may already have set resolutions and/or stellar routines nailed down; regardless of where you are on your self-care journey, we could all use a few extra nudges and motivation to spend some extra time on ourselves! 🤝

Much like posts from previous years, we’ve come up with a list of weekly prompts to challenge you to strut your self-care skills. 💗 This time around we’ll be focused on all things skincare, because when our skin feels good, we feel GEWD. 🌟 We encourage you to participate and respond to the prompts that inspire you – and don’t be shy to share any other self-care tips and tricks along the way!

Week 1 (1/8 – 1/14): Curating the perfect rise and glow ☀ skincare routine to kick off your day

Week 2 (1/15 – 1/21): Relaxing in your favorite face/eye mask(s)

Week 3 (1/22 – 1/28): Trying out tools to promote wellness (rollers, high tech tools, DIY massage . . .)

Week 4 (1/29 – 2/4): Adding some extra indulgence to your body care (baths, butters, oils, scrubs etc.) 🛀

Week 5 (2/5 – 2/11): Washing your makeup brushes, towels, pillowcases, etc. — whatever touches your GORG face 😘

Week 6 (2/12 – 2/18): Stimulating your scalp with treatments/serums (yes, this is skincare too!)

Week 7 (2/19 – 2/25): Sharing your favorite jumbo or refillable skincare goodies to get the best bang for your buck 🤑

Week 8 (2/26 – 3/4): Giving your hands and feet some extra love (masks, creams, exfoliants, etc.)

Hit the “Reply” button below and let us know how you are practicing self-skincare! 😍 Be sure to use the “#” to tag any products mentioned in your answers, if applicable.

Week 8 (2/26 – 3/4): Giving your hands and feet some extra love (masks, creams, exfoliants, etc.)

For my hands, I like Nécessaire The Hand Cream - Barrier Recovery Treatment with 5 Ceramides, 5 Peptides + Niacinamide and Gold Bond Hand Cream, which I'm currently using at work.  At home, I'm currently using Creve Intensive Moisturizing Lotion.  My hands are soft, but still quite dry.

For my feet, I had been using Seed Phytonutrients Hand Balm.  The company went out of business last year, and I'm about finished with my last backup tube.  The hand balm was too greasy and took too long to absorb for my hands.  Instead of tossing, I tried on my feet and absolutely loved.

Re: 2025 Skincare Check-In Challenge: LAST Week! - Don't forget hand + foot care

@Titian06 that is a total win to me.  I love the idea of using products in alternative ways.

Week 8 (2/26 – 3/4): Giving your hands and feet some extra love (masks, creams, exfoliants, etc.)

Week 8 - hand and foot care - sheet masks.jpg

Admittedly, hand and foot care are areas where I would do better with a routine and then be more consistent with it, especially with the practices involving (or that I intend to involve) more frequent attention, so I appreciate this last skincare as self-care prompt @TeamBIC - very appropos! Thank you!

My current hand and foot care "routine"

DAILY

  • Moisturize hands and feet: I'm not great at this and it shows. 😬  I'm better with moisturizing my hands, but I definitely need to be more mindful to do it every time I wash them.
  • Hands: I don't have one moisturizer for my hands. Most of the time, I take whatever moisturizer or oil that remains on my palms and the pads of my fingers from having previously pressed and massaged those products onto my face, and I spread and massage onto the back of my hands. I also reach for Gold Bond or La Roche Posay Cicaplast from time to time, as well as any face moisturizer that doesn't perform as well as I'd like for my face.
  • SPF: Mini tubes of SPF are great for keeping in my handbag for reapplication. I also use sunblock that might not otherwise be a favorite for my face on my hands. Highly recommend for everyone applying and reapplying sunblock to hands, and especially for those who spend time outdoors, including those who commute.
  • Feet: I have moisturizers that are specifically targeted for foot care, such as ones from Burt Bees or L'Occitane, but lately, I tend to either (a) bring whatever body moisturizer I'm using to my feet or (b) use whatever face moisturizer isn't a favorite for my face to my feet.

WEEKLY:

  • Exfoliate hands and feet: I have a few options when it comes to this part of my routine:
    • No-fuss, no muss: I'll use a shower scarf or exfoliating mitt, with whatever body wash I'm using, and  do a quick scrub with it
    • Dry brushing
    • Special Care - Hands: Deborah Lippmann Marshmallow Scrub which I mentioned as part of my response to Week 3 prompt as part of my nail care
    • Special Care - Feet: Soft Services Buffing Bar Exfoliating Body Bar for KP and Ingrown Hair (2 pack) 7.5 oz / 221 g is too harsh on my body but I love it for the soles of my feet (see also "Other Care" below) - I'll be reaching for this more frequently as I prepare for sandal season

MONTHLY:

Week 8 - foot care soak.jpg

OTHER CARE
  • Twice a year (usually late spring and mid-fall) I will do a foot peel a la Baby Foot. I'll be reaching for this peach-scented one - I'm assuming / hoping it smells like peaches - next month and sometime after that, will be giving these paraffin wax foot masks a try. @Shosh85, I'm going to see how these paraffin ones compare to the tried-and-true Mediheal paraffin foot mask.
  • Occasionally, I'll apply and massage a generous amount of moisturizer or oil onto my hand and feet and cover both overnight with gloves designed for use while sleeping and socks.

Re: 2025 Skincare Check-In Challenge: LAST Week! - Don't forget hand + foot care

@itsfi I love the idea of using face moisturizer that you don't love on your feet.  I generally just toss samples I  don't like but now i will try them on my feet

Re: 2025 Skincare Check-In Challenge: LAST Week! - Don't forget hand + foot care

@itsfi I am interested in the baby foot mask.  I haven't tried those. Thanks

Week 8 (2/26 – 3/4): Giving your hands and feet some extra love (masks, creams, exfoliants, etc.)

My feet are always really dry in the winter.  I am always on the hunt for the next great foot care product.  Right now I use Soap & Glory foot cream, L'Occitane Nourishing and Protective Shea Butter Hand Cream Shea Butter , and SEPHORA COLLECTION Nourishing Foot Mask in Coconut + Lavender .

Re: 2025 Skincare Check-In Challenge: Week 7 - Jumbo & Refillable Skincare

Week 7 (2/19 – 2/25): Sharing your favorite jumbo or refillable skincare goodies to get the best bang for your buck 🤑

I don't have any jumbo skincare treats that come to mind, but as far as favorite refillable skincare goodies go, it's L'Occitane Cleansing And Softening Refillable Shower Oil With Almond Oil and Kérastase Elixir Ultime Refillable Hydrating Hair Oil (gratis - thank you @TeamBIC)

Re: 2025 Skincare Check-In Challenge: Week 7 - Jumbo & Refillable Skincare

That L'Occitane Cleansing And Softening Refillable Shower Oil With Almond Oil is a nice product.  But for some reason I forget about it when I need a shower gel/oil. @itsfi

Re: 2025 Skincare Check-In Challenge: Week 7 - Jumbo & Refillable Skincare

Week 5 (2/5 – 2/11): Washing your makeup brushes, towels, pillowcases, etc. — whatever touches your GORG face 😘

- For brushes I use SEPHORA COLLECTION Jumbo Daily Brush Cleaner 13.52 oz / 400 ml  and deep clean with soap and water.

- For towels and pillowcases/sheets I use a fragrance-free, dye-free laundry detergent.

Week 6 (2/12 – 2/18): Stimulating your scalp with treatments/serums (yes, this is skincare too!):  I use The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + Hyaluronic Acid Scalp Serum 60ml for my dry itchy scalp.  I've been using it for several years, and it has made a huge difference.  My scalp is much less dry and barely itches (though it does flare up in the winter).

Week 7 (2/19 – 2/25): Sharing your favorite jumbo or refillable skincare goodies to get the best bang for your buck

- Jumbo:  Verb Ghost Weightless Shampoo for Fine Hair  & Verb Ghost Conditioner for Fine Hair

- Refillable:  Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant Refillable Exfoliator 2.6 oz/ 74g & Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant Exfoliator Refill Pack 2.6 oz/ 74 g Refill

Re: 2025 Skincare Check-In Challenge: Week 7 - Jumbo & Refillable Skincare

The Ordinary makes some really good products @Titian06. I agree, the hair serum is a quality item. It deserves your shout out.👌🥳
