So, we're all familiar with the thought that you shouldn't because "heat + oil = frying." However, Manes by Mell recommended doing so with Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Frizz Reduction & Heat Protection Hair Oil . She has so many great ideas, that I was thinking maybe the idea isn't so bad at all. What does BIC think? I have a couple theories:1. Maybe she's wrong 2. maybe she's right...but maybe she's right just for silicone based oils. Or, maybe any oil can be applied?

I've seen a couple steam straighteners and I'm wondering how good they are, as they haven't exploded in popularity like other tools. I'm mainly curious if they're more or less damaging than flat irons. And, are the results the same?

@EmilyA2002 My hair is similar, but probably more like 1c to 2a. I agree with @NadiaDenisse : sometimes less is more, and it can be easier to enhance the straightness than to try to make decent-looking waves. I have recently been trying to go for bends instead of waves. Yesterday, I shampooed with a volumizing shampoo and conditioner, then applied a little Bumble and bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Heat Protectant Leave In Conditioner Primer 8.5 oz/ 250 mL - just enough to detangle. I then combed my hair back and let it air dry. I added a little Kérastase Elixir Ultime Refillable Hydrating Hair Oil to tame the frizz on the ends when dry. It still looks good this morning-bends with movement, and no frizz.
