Hey there, BIC! I don't know about you, but keeping up (or even just doing) things for my own wellness or self-care can slide off my radar or just get pushed aside for some other activity. That happens even more often at the end of the year and with the holidays.
Here we have a game of wellness bingo for November. I thought it would be a fun way to try to keep at it, or to keep it top of mind, by making a little game of it. I also thought this might be a good way to get a leg up on resolutions for the new year. Wellness takes work - let's do the work together, BIC!
HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
🌻 There are a couple of ways to participate. You can aim every week (or every month) to try to check off a different 5-boxes in a row - vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. OR, to add a different take to this wellness challenge, you can use this sheet to see how many boxes you can check off this month. Those are just 2 ways to participate; I'm sure there are other ways and if there's an approach that you find works better for you to get in a little more self care, more regularly, please do share!
BONUS CHALLENGE: This challenge is certainly one you can do on your own. It's also something we can take part in together! Share about the activities you did to earn each square. I love hearing from this Community - I learn about new things I wouldn't have thought of otherwise. Or, share challenges or questions.
🎀 We are all at different stages of our wellness / self-care journey. I'm not at expert at all at this and if there's an activity that is not something you are ready for or that you shouldn't engage in, make the adjustments you need to, or just skip the activity. For instance, the first square is to take a walk outside - if it's storming outside or you're in an area where it is not safe to walk outside (e.g., weather advisory, shelter-in-place, etc.), then skip this one and stay indoors. Be safe. For some of these activities, particularly the physical ones, please consult with your physician or health care provider before starting, if and as appropriate.
⏲ The time periods I included are arbitrary - if you want or can do more than a 10 minute walk outside, go for it. If you're starting out or if you're crunched for time, aim for 5 minutes and work up when, if and as appropriate for you.
🗒 Wondering about the activities mentioned in the squares? Check this out - Wellness In Progress: November 2024 - Activity Summary
@caitbird Thank you for your encouragement! It has taken me a while to get into the routine of working out. I try to take it one day at a time. I try not to be hard on myself when I don't make time for it. I find that writing things down in my daily planner helps me reach my goals 😊. It feels very satisfying to cross items off of my list. Oh dear, about the 😺😸... I know exactly what you mean. My guy does the same thing, and I also go to sleep on the sofa sometimes. I think he wants my company. He definitely knows what he is doing!
@Mellmars1185 those cats can be such little rascals - and yet, we love them anyway! 😂
Oh yes, I totally agree, crossing a task off in your planner is sooo satisfying! I think that's the best part of keeping a planner 🤣
@caitbird Speaking of planners, I seem to have misplaced mine. I have been looking around for it all day. I bet it is under a pile of makeup, lol. I jeed to hold myself accountable!
@Mellmars1185 Good sleep is always good specially when you have a cat alarm to wake you up on time.
@fatimamummy Thank you! I am sure you understand all about the kitty alarms now ⏰️😻😽
@Mellmars1185 Great job!! Omg I caught up with my friends at bingo too!!
@ather Thank you! What?!? No way?!? Any luck? I played on the digital machine so I didnt miss out on dabbing when chatting lol 😆
@Mellmars1185 Aww ours was old style. Dabbing and chatting! It was nice to get out! I did win!! So fun!
@Mellmars1185, getting in more movement is good; I find it can be harder in the colder months. I need to come up with a routine or maybe look into some apps.
Lol, your cat has made himself your alarm clock. 😊 He’s got his own habit stack going on - eat and wake up mom.
@itsfi haha my habits have rubbed off on my cat 😹. I am trying ro figure out how I can teach him when it is the weekend?!
@Mellmars1185 What kind of electrolytes do you use? I am really so terrible at drinking water.
@PrettyPaint The brand I buy most often is Organika. I like the raspberry flavour. Recently, I got a tub of Biosteele electrolytes in the peach mango flavour. I have to aay the Biosteele is my favourite! I like to get the sugar free ones.
@Mellmars1185 Thank you so much. I haven't heard of either of those brands, so I'll definitely look them up and give them a try!
@PrettyPaint You are welcome! If you do end up trying electrolytes out, I would love to know your thoughts 😊
Congrats on another Bingo!!! You did fantastic! I have that clay mask too! It is so lovely, I love masks because of the time of how long they are worn it helps me be mindful and really in the center of that time. I love that you got to play Bingo with friends! It is so fun! And excersize, sleep, and movement are such great things together and seperate I love how they pair so nicely and I love your thoughts and experiences with each! Great work! ❤️ @Mellmars1185
@peculiarzmakeup Thank you so much! I really enjoy sharing these experiences. Wellness and taking care of ourselves overall is a part of beauty inside and out!
@heartsmyface awesome job! You accomplished a nice variety of wellness activities, I hope you enjoyed them 🙂
You accomplished so many great things on this list! I am so interested to hear more about aromatherapy are there certain scents you gravitate too. I love lavender! You did so well 🙂 @heartsmyface
Great wellness practices, @heartsmyface ! What kind of exercises and stretches do you do? I am in search of some new workouts.
@Mellmars1185 I hadn’t been working out for a while but have been trying to get my butt to the gym everyday for the past couple weeks where I do machines for about an hour (casually). And then I take about 30 minutes to do stretches, mainly focusing on hip flexibility. I hit a plateau with my split training and am just starting to see a little progress again. Not stressing over it and just enjoying the stretching seems to help.
I have both been following a Stretch It ap (highly recommended if you’re starting from being the stiffest person ever) and going off yoga stretches memory and also do some barre work (I’m also trying to get my leg behind my head. Ha, I have a ways to go. This has been the longest covid project but it’s addictive. The endorphins keep me going.
ha, and I try to run a bit too but wow how I’ve fallen from the runner I used to be. I have worked my way up to fifteen minutes and haven’t been too consistent with it.
