Hey there, BIC! I don't know about you, but keeping up (or even just doing) things for my own wellness or self-care can slide off my radar or just get pushed aside for some other activity. That happens even more often at the end of the year and with the holidays.
Here we have a game of wellness bingo for November. I thought it would be a fun way to try to keep at it, or to keep it top of mind, by making a little game of it. I also thought this might be a good way to get a leg up on resolutions for the new year. Wellness takes work - let's do the work together, BIC!
HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
🌻 There are a couple of ways to participate. You can aim every week (or every month) to try to check off a different 5-boxes in a row - vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. OR, to add a different take to this wellness challenge, you can use this sheet to see how many boxes you can check off this month. Those are just 2 ways to participate; I'm sure there are other ways and if there's an approach that you find works better for you to get in a little more self care, more regularly, please do share!
BONUS CHALLENGE: This challenge is certainly one you can do on your own. It's also something we can take part in together! Share about the activities you did to earn each square. I love hearing from this Community - I learn about new things I wouldn't have thought of otherwise. Or, share challenges or questions.
🎀 We are all at different stages of our wellness / self-care journey. I'm not at expert at all at this and if there's an activity that is not something you are ready for or that you shouldn't engage in, make the adjustments you need to, or just skip the activity. For instance, the first square is to take a walk outside - if it's storming outside or you're in an area where it is not safe to walk outside (e.g., weather advisory, shelter-in-place, etc.), then skip this one and stay indoors. Be safe. For some of these activities, particularly the physical ones, please consult with your physician or health care provider before starting, if and as appropriate.
⏲ The time periods I included are arbitrary - if you want or can do more than a 10 minute walk outside, go for it. If you're starting out or if you're crunched for time, aim for 5 minutes and work up when, if and as appropriate for you.
🗒 Wondering about the activities mentioned in the squares? Check this out - Wellness In Progress: November 2024 - Activity Summary
@PDXXXX What a lovely self care collage! I hope you had a lovely week. Did you have a favourite self care activity?
@Mellmars1185 I'm hoping to get back into the pattern of using the aromatherapy diffuser for sure - it was a nice reminder of how calm it makes everything feel - I need to make it a habit now! I hope your self-care is going well too 🙂
@PDXXXX Thank you! There is a threadHabit Stacking Thread 📚 if you are interested!
Ooh - thank you @Mellmars1185 . I'm going to check it out now and appreciate the recommendation 🙂
Love the collage! @PDXXXX and getting in those masks.
A friend once described that type of foot mask as "gnarly" and that's stuck with me ever since .
@danielledanielle your friend nailed it, they really are 😂
@PDXXXX great work with your self care! Love your self care collage you made, and your pups are so adorable! Hi doggies! 😍 I've never tried the Baby Foot masks before, but I feel like I should try them, I have a lot of dry skin on my foot (only one foot though and not the other, it is the weirdest thing! 😅)
Thank you @caitbird ! They are definitely crazy effective for dry feet (that's funny, I have one side that gets a callous more than the other too). The only trick especially in summer is you will totally have skin shedding off in layers for about a week so sometimes you're like, "um...can I do this this week and who am I seeing?" Winter is a great time to try them for that reason. Do you have pets? They're a big part of my self care routine too.
@PDXXXX good to know about the Baby Foot masks, I will plan to try them during sock-wearing season lol
yes, I have 2 cats, I love them so much! And I live with my parents and they have their dog, too, so I get lots of critter cuddles 😉💜
The Baby Foot masks are my favorite exfoliating peel foot mask @PDXXXX. There’s something satisfying (and unnerving) about seeing all the dead skin flake off. I often forget I’ve done one until I see the shedding and my first thought is always “what is going on?” before I realize it’s the peel foot masks!
Edie is adorable!! 🐶
P.S. No particular order for which activity or square to do. All up to you!
@itsfi Edie thanks you! I know...why is it so satisfying to peel layers of skin off your feet?? It makes me feel disgusting for loving it so much every time but they definitely get the job done, lol 🙂
@itsfi probably no more than a couple times of year - around now when I've been slacking because I'm not seeing them every day like in summer or pre-summer when I'm getting excited again to wear sandals. There's this ridiculously cheap product I get at Sally's Beauty - Freeman Foot Peel Spray - you spray on dry feet and then massage in or buff that is actually a lot like a light Baby Foot and peels off a lot of surface skin I use more regularly. Or, I'll just use the Tinkle Razors on calluses after showering on clean, softened feet and finish with more of a moisturizing mask. I tend to get way into doing pedicures myself during the summer and then hit winter and slack, lol.
@itsfi I absolutely love this idea! I am all for fitting in self care in all its forms, as and when I can, and this is a great way to mix things up and make things fun and engaging! I will definitely be following along with this thread and checking off as many boxes as I can!
Thanks for posting!
So glad to hear that @caitbird ❣️Looking forward to hearing what activities you do for the squares you check off. I’m excited to make these activities more routine and to get ideas from folks here as to what they do.
@CorgiMommy, thank you; fun and hopefully, an effective tool.
@greeneyedgirl107, thank you; hopefully it will be helpful.
This is such a neat idea @itsfi. I took a walk outside earlier today before seeing this, so I guess I get to mark off the first box! 🙂
Yes, one box marked off @PrettyPaint, yaaaay! 🙌 I went for a walk during lunch so I'll mark that square on mine as well!
