2024 Self-Care Check-In Challenge: Week 8 - Share your body care routine!

Happy New Year, BIC! We’re kicking off 2024 with an important reminder: we all need to take good care of ourselves – this year and beyond. 😊 Some of us may make resolutions, and others may already have their regular routines down to a tee; regardless of where you are in your self-care journey, we could all use a few extra reminders and a bit of motivation to spend a little extra T.L.C. on ourselves!

 

Like similar posts from previous years, we’ve come up with a list of weekly prompts to challenge you to exercise your self-care skills in different ways. 🧡 We encourage you to participate and respond to the prompts that speak to you – and don’t be afraid to share any other self-care tips and tricks along the way!

 

  • Week 1 (1/10 – 1/16): Creating the perfect morning routine to start your day off right 🌞
  • Week 2 (1/17 – 1/23): Surrounding yourself with soothing scents
  • Week 3 (1/24 – 1/30): Testing out products to promote wellness (supplements, intimate care, rollers…) 🌿
  • Week 4 (1/31 – 2/6): Indulging in your favorite face mask(s) 👩
  • Week 5 (2/7 – 2/13): Spending extra time on your hair (and scalp!) care 🧼
  • Week 6 (2/14 – 2/20): Cleaning up your beauty collection 🧹

I hear you. Reading has a different effect on me before bed. For myself, my eyes get heavy and I either have to go back a few pages the next time because I was too sleepy to retain any info or i lose my page when I fall asleep  😆

I would love books to have those effects on me @Mellmars1185 ..... even if I was reading a dictionary, I would be like "oooh, interesting! That's what that word means?!" 😂

Week 7 (2/21 – 2/27): Improving your quality of sleep 💤
ive been working on this since early last year I’m such a night owl😅🌙 i started taking  magnesium last year and that was a step for me❤️ I now do no screen/tv for about an hour before I go to sleep😴  I also find diffusing lavender oil in the room before it’s time to go to sleep helps my relax a lot I personally love the Young Living one I also have their diffuser💙 generally also doing some stretching and calming myself down sometimes reading a book just to relax to get the best nights sleep💙😴🌙💤

Great tips @happyskincare ! What do you do during the hour of no screen time? I love reading but I always end up reading murder mysteries or true crime and I get hooked 😂

I usually read😅 I’m such a book worm😂 sometimes I’ll do a massage🩷

Recently I started using detox feet pads on my feet while I sleep. 

I have noticed I sleep more soundly, I wake refreshed and my freshness lasts all day.

I try to end screen use a half hour prior to going to bed

I have limited my caffeine this year and it is helping.

Those are both great tips. Limiting caffeine really does help I find too. @CorgiMommy

Try a few ounces at tart cherry juice ..) all natural and no sugar added)  30 minutes before bed time!

@KiaLovesMakeup I have been doing this for years.  It is an acquired taste , not only is it good for sleep it has natural anti-inflammatory properties.

Week 6 (2/14-2 /20): Cleaning up your beauty collections 

(I know I’m late I’m sorry I typed it all up and forgot to post🤦🏽‍♀️😅)

Wow these challenges help! As someone who has a hard time cleaning out I decided it was finally time to get rid of all the drugstore makeup/stuff I got just because of the price and after one use I  knew I would never use again😅  Generally some of these products aren’t bad it’s just the color looks so off on me😅😂 i recently gave all my skincare that I needed to declutter to a friend so I don’t have anymore at the moment that needs to be declutter❤️

Thanks I’m really trying I tell myself if I declutter I can pick up some newbies @CynthieLu 😅🤭❤️ I try my best to give things away in the beauty department (that aren’t expired) so they don’t go to waste❤️

@TeamBIC  what do I do to improve my quality of sleep?  

i do stretches at night and deep breathing. 
i take magnesium,  drink herbal tea and right before bed I like going in the sauna.  It releases endorphines and I get very sleepy as my body temperature lowers. If I cool down and I’m not in bed yet, I’ve lost my window of opportunity so I have to be purposeful about it.  
i also have to keep the bedroom cool.  I sleep better when I’m bundled up and the air I’m breathing is chilly.

I have been using magnesium in my skincare routine and it has helped. The only problem is that I don’t get enough sleep. I’m such a night owl.
