Ready or not, 2023 is here, and the Beauty Insider Community is kicking the year off the best way we know how: with our annual Self-Care Check-In Challenge! Whether or not youโre a resolution-maker, thereโs something kind of satisfying about the idea of a โfresh startโ ๐งผ and while weโre big supporters of maintaining boundaries and practicing self-care all year round, it doesnโt hurt to have a little extra motivation to set healthy (and/or relaxing) habits.
Think of this thread as the place to check in with your fellow Community members and share how youโre practicing different types of self-care โ they can be inspired by our weekly inspo prompts, or based on your own unique self-care needs or beauty intentions. @cianni Great routine. Sounds like you have found a routine that works for you. I am still on a skincare journey - trying to find what works. I really like the laneige cica sleeping mask!
@Mellmars1185 thanks! it was a labour of love for sure, but it was definitely worth it! wishing you all the luck on your skincare journey!
These are really good moisturizers, @cianni!
@curlychiquita my skin really changed when i finally embraced hydration, and moved away from all matte skincare/makeup. my poor skin during that era, dealing with all the "oil control" products i didnt really need
Is tatcha worth the hype? Or glow recipe?
@deneyri The products that are totally worth it to me are Tatcha The Water Cream Oil-Free Pore Minimizing Refillable Moisturizer
Tatcha The Essence Skincare Boosting Treatment
Glow Recipe Plum Plumpโข Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum
Glow Recipe Guava Vitamin C Bright-Eye Gel Cream 0.5 oz / 15 mL
@deneyriwhether or not they are worth it depends on a few factors; your skin type, what you are looking for in skincare, what 'excites' you about products, and what skin needs you are looking to address. I mix and match, and currently have a few GR and Tatcha products in my routine. I think more than anything, it is consistency and understanding what your skin needs that make a difference. Not every product from a brand is going to work for me, or anyone else - they address different needs. I use the ones I do because they are enjoyable for me to use (scent, texture, etc.). Maybe you can sample a few, to just get an idea of whether or not you think they are worth it - because that is what really matters!
Well said @eshoe ๐ it definitely depends on what you want, and are looking for with results. Also how you skin reacts and tolerates different types of skin care. Everyone has different skin.
I mix and match too, but I love playing around with skin care ๐
@CynthieLu there are just too many factors to consider, arenโt there ๐
Tatcha is absolutely worth the hype although it is expensive. La Roche posay had the same kinds of results for me for a cheaper price. If you were to buy one product Iโd invest in the Tatcha Rice Wash.
@deneyri I found only some Tatcha products were worth it same with Glow Recipe.
@deneyri are there any products specifically youre interested in?
How do make nighttime skin care routine ? Is there an order Iโm suppose to go in?
@maarb @You first have to figure out your skin type and what you are trying to prevent or help your skin with. When you apply products you go from the thinnest to thickest product.
@maarb hi! i find the trick to creating a nighttime routine is to first start off with figuring out what your skin concerns are! if you let me know what you're looking to get out of your routine, I (and i'm sure lots of other BICers would be able to provide some recommendations!). in terms of order, generally (although not always!) the idea is to go by consistency (for example, oils and toners would go before thicker creams) for better absorbency into the skin. here is what my routine looks like right now (i do skin cycling, so the products are different depending on the day): makeup remover (balm or oil if i've worn makeup that day), cleanser, micellar water on a cotton pad (i love the SEPHORA COLLECTION Organic Cotton Pads 50 Pads for this because of the size!), hydrating toner, an active (an acid, retinol, etc), hydrating serum (if necessary, depends on the day!), moisturizer, and a sleeping mask if i feel like my skin can benefit from that.
also, keep in mind that some ingredients should be used at night, because they can make your skin more sensitive to the sun, such as Vitamin C or retinol!
My night time routine has gone back to very basic as I used products that made me break out and caused burning on my face.
Currently, CeraVe sensitive cleanser, Bioderma Sensibio Gel Eye Contour, La Roche Posay HYALU B5 HYALURONIC ACID ANTI-AGING FACE SERUM, La Roche PosayTOLERIANE SENSITIVE FACE MOISTURIZER.
@mandatorikaos a common experience for skincare enthusiasts ๐ฅฒ sorry that happened to you!! Iโll never forget the horrid red skin I dealt with after using a set that just did not agree with me what so ever, and having to walk into Sephora to exchange it. Luckily I stumbled across the Dr. Jart tigergrass cream Sephora carried at the time which really helped to heal the damage I had caused. Good luck cleaning up your skin.
@TeamBIC I hadn't ever tried the Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream Plumping & Hydrating Refillable Moisturizer before choosing it for my Insider birthday gift last year but I fell in love with it and it's been a godsend as my nightly face cream, especially during these winter months when my skin typically gets drier. I genuinely look forward to the experience of using it every night!
@CookieGirl1 Ooo glad you got that gift. Itโs such a great product!
@ather I loved the moisturizer so much that I repurchased the Gratitude size. Two of them ๐.
This is a great moisturizer, @CookieGirl1!
