Ready or not, 2023 is here, and the Beauty Insider Community is kicking the year off the best way we know how: with our annual Self-Care Check-In Challenge! Whether or not you’re a resolution-maker, there’s something kind of satisfying about the idea of a “fresh start” 🧼 and while we’re big supporters of maintaining boundaries and practicing self-care all year round, it doesn’t hurt to have a little extra motivation to set healthy (and/or relaxing) habits.
Think of this thread as the place to check in with your fellow Community members and share how you’re practicing different types of self-care – they can be inspired by our weekly inspo prompts, or based on your own unique self-care needs or beauty intentions. If one theme doesn’t speak to you – by all means, skip it! You can still stop by to cheer on your fellow Community members! 🤗
Hit the reply button below and let us know – how are you practicing self-care in 2023? Don’t forget to tag any products you’re using to achieve your goals, if applicable, by using the “#” sign!
@Mellmars1185 my skin looks better since i use these products !!
Week 1 (1/4-1/10): Perfecting your nighttime skincare routine
My skin really needs extra help this time of year - my skin gets super dry!!! I have really been loving the Leahlani Bless Beauty Balm. It smells like lilacs and it super super hydrating. I also love the LANEIGE Cica Sleeping Mask for Moisture Barrier Support !! It is not only hydrating but very calming. It's perfect for winter chapped skin!
I also have been trying out the Avene retinol which I like and I am using up a Drunk Elephant Lala Retro™ Nourishing Whipped Refillable Moisturizer 1.69 oz/ 50 mL but I think I will switch back to the Farmacy Honey Halo Ultra-Hydrating Ceramide Moisturizer when I am done because I get similar results and its slightly cheaper. Plus I like the honey scent.
@Kim888 I also love the Cica sleeping mask!!
Great picks @Kim888! I loved the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro™ Nourishing Whipped Refillable Moisturizer 1.69 oz/ 50 mL but it’s awesome that you can get similar results for a cheaper price point with the Farmacy Honey Halo Ultra-Hydrating Ceramide Moisturizer, especially when it smells like honey 🍯
@Kim888 I put the cica mask on my loves list- thanks!!
Those are great cold season hydrators @Kim888 Winter is soooo harsh and dry.
The honey moisturizer is well loved 🥰 I've been dying to try it after reading so many great things about it. It's a winner staple for so many people ❄️ lovely choices!
@Kim888 Great routine! I love the cica sleeping mask so much! It's good to know about the Farmacy moisturizer. I believe it is one of the Rouge's birthday gifts, so i think i will try it then!
Yes that little birthday gift set looks so great @Mellmars1185 !!! I think it has a sample of their mask too which is so good !
Week 1
I’ve got sensitive and dry skin due to my eczema. Here’s my usual nighttime routine.
The INKEY List Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser 5 oz/ 150 mL
The INKEY List Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Hydrating Face Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL
Tower 28 Beauty SOS Intensive Redness Relief Serum with Hypochlorous Acid 2 oz / 59 mL
My eczema prescription medication
SEPHORA COLLECTION All Day Hydrator Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer 1.69 oz/ 50 mL
SEPHORA COLLECTION Nourishing Moisturizer for Skin Barrier 1.69 oz / 50 ml
Skinfix Eczema+ Dermatitis Face Balm 0.48 oz/ 13.5 mL
Aquaphor if it’s really dry out
@JoSometimes The tower 28 spray is so good!! I love it too!!
@ather I just discovered tower 28’s SOS line. I have both the spray and the serum, but I like the more immediate effect the serum has, especially when my skin gets irritated.
@JoSometimes Thanks! That’s awesome to know!!
You’re routine looks so nice and calming @JoSometimes , especially the The INKEY List Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL and the Tower 28 Beauty SOS Daily Rescue Facial Spray with Hypochlorous Acid 4 oz/ 120 mL
lovely choices!
Thank you @bakeamuffin! I’ve had eczema all my life and no skincare routine outside of a quick facial cleanse during a shower. Last year, my eczema spread to my face for the first time and I kept scratching at it. I took a deep into the world of skincare to find products that would help with the redness and irritation. There’s a lot of texture and discolouration now from scaring, so that’s the next chapter in this skincare journey.
Skinfix is such a great line- I'm glad you found a love there. @JoSometimes It's expensive but I do like their Skinfix Eczema+ Foaming Oil Body Wash 12.5 oz/ 370 mL .
OMG @Ispend2much6! I’m going to try this one. Thank you for the recommendation!
@JoSometimes love these picks! Skinfix and The Inkey List and The Ordinary are excellent imo 👌
You have all your basses covered in this routine 😄
Thanks @CynthieLu! I love the Inkey List for their budget-friendly but effective products!
Mee too! They have so many products my skin loves @JoSometimes and budget friendly is a huge bonus!
@JoSometimes Excellent routine. I am a big fan of The Inkey List.
Thanks @Mellmars1185! There was a bit of trial and error finding things that wouldn’t irritate my skin more and I had some help putting it together.
