Our Beauty Insider Community Forum is Retiring 🍹🏖️👋🏽

To our bold, creative, and always curious Beauty Insider Community Forum members:

 

We’re sharing a bittersweet message today—this coming August we will be retiring this Forum. We know, we’re bummed too.

For more than 15 years, our Beauty Insider Community has been a place for Sephora die-hards to talk about their favorite products, ask questions about routines, and show off their favorite looks. While this was a difficult decision, we've loved seeing this group thrive and we're incredibly proud of what we've built together.

 

We'll be here every step of the way as we start to wind things down. 🤝 Here's what to expect along the way...

  • June 3: The Forum will become read-only and will only be accessible on desktop or mobile (no more app!). This means that you have until June 3 to make your final contributions to your favorite threads (Masking Challenge! Shop Your Stash! April Hauls!), revisit any favorite posts, and connect with your fellow BIC-ers.
  • Your Community profile will also be retired on June 3, and your profile photo will be replaced with Winky. REMINDER: Community Gallery is not going away, so your Gallery posts and profile are here to stay!
  • Mid-August: Community Forum and its posts will no longer be accessible.

We are immeasurably grateful to you for your engagement and enthusiasm on this platform over the years. You made this a safe space where everyone felt seen and accepted. We may be signing off here, but you will always be welcome at Sephora. Thank you for everything!

When is the last day I can use the Forum?

The last day to contribute new posts and content to the Forum is June 3. Starting June 3, Forum content will remain available in a read-only state until early August, so be sure to copy or take any screenshots you may want to save in the meantime!

 

Will I still be able to send private messages (PMs) to other community members?
Private messaging will no longer be available once the Forum becomes read-only on June 3. After that, we hope you’ll continue connecting with fellow shoppers in other ways by posting in Gallery, Ratings & Reviews, and Q&A.

 

If the Forum is going away, how do I get in touch with Sephora?

There are still ways to connect with us! Find us on social, or head to our customer service hub here: sephora.com/beauty/customer-service

 

Will Reviews, Q&A, and Gallery continue to be supported long‑term?

Yes! We hope you continue posting your selfies, shopping hauls, and videos on the Gallery, sounding off on products in Ratings & Reviews, and sharing your beauty expertise in Questions & Answers on product pages.

 

What happens to my profile picture?

Customized profile photos will be going away on June 3 as part of the Forum closure.

 

What happens to my username or nickname?

Your Community username is here to stay! It will continue to be associated with any Gallery posts, Ratings and Reviews on product pages, or Question & Answer content you share.

 

What happens to my badges, ranks, or status levels?

We will say goodbye to Community badges and ranks (for example, FRESH FACE II, RISING STAR III, ICON I) when the Forum retires. Your Beauty Insider tier (Insider, VIB, or Rouge) or any progress on active Beauty Insider Challenges will not be affected! Your BI points will also be unaffected.

 

Will all my content go away?

Only your Forum content—including your profile (sephora.com/profile/me) and posts—will be going away as we say goodbye to the Community Forum. We encourage you to continue sharing content with your fellow Sephora shoppers on the Community Gallery, Ratings & Reviews on product pages, and Questions & Answers on product pages!

 

Is there a way to save my posts?

We encourage you to save down any photos or screenshots you want to keep of your beautiful Forum content before it closes! To see all of your posts, go to the Forum home at community.sephora.com and then click “My Posts” to see your activity history.

 

How long will I have access to save my content ?

You will have the ability to screenshot or save any of your content until the Forum closes in August.

 

What will happen to all my profile/account information?

Your Community profile (sephora.com/profile/me) will go away as we say goodbye to the Community Forum. You can continue to view your other Sephora information in the following places:

-Beauty Preferences: sephora.com/profile/beautypreferences

-Beauty Insider Summary: sephora.com/beautyinsider

-Account Settings: sephora.com/profile/myaccount

 

Will old Forum content redirect somewhere else on sephora.com?

Starting in August, previous Forum threads will be redirected to relevant shopping pages on sephora.com or, in some cases, the Gallery.

I think it just hits hard because right now, there is so much dismantling of community and familiar institutions everywhere you turn. So, while sunsetting this seems minor to corporate (not @TeamBIC)  (I worked in corporate retail for 20 years), this “third space” was a longstanding source of comfort or routine for a lot of members. 

The copy lines about hoping we will stay connected through things like “ratings and reviews”—no, stoppp. You want to ensure enough data for Bazaarvoice. Who in the world has found “connection” through ratings and reviews? Gtfo.

 

Obviously, Sephora will do what’s best for the business, but please don’t pretend to pacify anyone’s disappointment with (preexisting) one-way touchpoints like Q&A, reviews or inevitably, an increasing reliance on generative AI. Because nothing feels more like connection than talking beauty with my favorite Large Language Model girlies. 😑

The real connections with real people in this online community will be a huge whole corporate Sephora isn't seemingly concerned with at this moment @happy118

I feel the same, reviews etc... are just so empty it was the real talk and convos here that inspired me to try new things and the feedback here was much more believable than reviews. The community itself was a comfort and an important space to so many. I hope they quickly realize their mistake and the community makes a return but who knows what the future holds. 💔

I am so very grateful for this place and all of the people who made it what it was! We’ve been through so many things together throughout the years, 15 you say?! Wow. 🤯 You can’t make new old friends, and you gals have been such a blessing! 

Sephoria 2027 is going to be an even more special event because we will have to organize a family reunion. This is non/negotiable 😆 

 

Please keep in touch, maybe this is just the beginning of something even more beautiful ❤️

Hi everyone! I have been slammed with some work deadlines, but will have some updates next week on a potential new forum that can give us a lot of what we have come to love about BT/BIC! @sister13  Oh, count me in! The first alternative that sprang to mind was reddit, which has its own issues. I’d love to hear about other options.

I don't quite know what to say. I'm a little heartbroken than the BIC (Sephorum in my household) is shutting down. What a loss to the beauty community knowledge in general (way back machine get on archiving it!) and what a loss of a community for beauty lovers to chat. While I can't say I'm necessarily surprised, due to issues with logistics of the BIC, I had hoped this announcement would come in parallel that it's being transformed into something else and not just dismantled. So sad!!

 

Thank you to @TeamBIC and all of the mods for everything. Thank you to my fellow BIC Community members. I wasn't the best at consistently being on, but I'll miss chatting with you all here.

Any 🇨🇦 BICers able to sign up for the Ulta forum? I can't get the verification code to my phone here...which is frustrating. I guess limiting it to people who can actually shop there is one thing but very annoying.

Whaaaaaat?   I come back from an extended vacation and find out we’re soon-to-be homeless and couch surfing at Ulta?   Dang!  
Is there anything we can do to reverse this decision?  Is it a money issue?  I’m sure there are plenty of us who would volunteer our time to keep the community intact.  @TeamBIC

Whoever made this decision is making a big mistake. I haven’t been on in a while, but I was here when it was Beauty Talk and was a Hall of Famer before they changed the tiers. This community is special and it’s going to be a big loss 😢

Sephora getting rid of BT and then BIC, is a CRAZY business decision and also devastating to us.
