Monthly Faves October 2022

Happy spooky szn, BIC! To be honest, there isn’t anything too scary about my October picks, unless you consider how deeply obsessed I’ve been with collecting all of these Dyson Airwrap attachments! 😬 Aside from that, this month I’ve been embracing my bath girl era, trying to stick to a 2x-a-day brow treatment routine (so far so good!), and of course, keeping my SPF game strong with the help of a classic sunscreen reco from our very own @GeorginaBT. And naturally, no Monthly Faves of mine would be complete without some kind of sparkle. ✨

The foundation applied flawlessly and most foundations apply patchy on my skin. It was not dying and had a lovley finish. It lasted all day and the rest of the products I applied on top really well.

I have a few faves this month:

Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Advanced Retinol + Ferulic Triple Correction Eye Serum 0.5 oz/ 15 mL - This has been a great addition to my eye routine. It’s non irritating, and seems to be effective!

The 7 Virtues Peace Perfume Discovery Set - Not a dud in the whole set! I can’t decide which is my favorite, but it’s been perfect to mix up my fragrances moving in to fall. 

Benefit Cosmetics POWmade Waterproof Brow Pomade - I loved the now (I think) dc ka-Brow and this is a good update. My brows look polished but natural.

@CookieGirl1 Honestly, I can’t decide! I got a sample of The 7 Virtues Lotus Pear Eau de Parfum 1.7 oz/ 50 mL eau de parfum spray in an order a while back and that was primarily the reason I wanted to try more from the brand. It’s such a unique fragrance I don’t have anything similar. I find myself reaching for The 7 Virtues Santal Vanille Eau de Parfum 1.7 oz/ 50 mL for fall as well, but I’m a sucker for patchouli and citrus, and The 7 Virtues Patchouli Citrus Eau de Parfum 1.7 oz/ 50 mL Eau de Parfum Spray is exactly that in the most wonderful way.

@alexasteph I've looked at the The 7 Virtues Lotus Pear Eau de Parfum 1.7 oz/ 50 mL eau de parfum spray before and thought that it sounded really nice!  I tend to like fruity florals, though...

@faeriegirl I noticed that you and @alexasteph both listed Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Advanced Retinol + Ferulic Triple Correction Eye Serum 0.5 oz/ 15 mL as faves this month.  I remember a couple of people on BIC disliking it since the reformulation, and noting the smell was unpleasant.  IDK if you've used the "old" version.  I was wondering how you compare the two.  I mean, obviously you like the new version!

I have a little left in my "old" bottle and am super frustrated b/c the pump stopped working and I know I could get a good amount out if it were intact.  IDK if I should get the new one or not.

Do you use it on your eyelids?  I got it specifically for that reason, since DDG and Beautypedia said you could use it on your eyelids.  I've actually been using First Aid Beauty FAB Skin Lab Retinol Eye Cream with Triple Hyaluronic Acid 0.5 oz/ 15 mL on my eyelids without any issue just recently.  My tube is old almost empty, so IDK how effective the retinol even is anymore.

I also wonder about the concentration of retinol in the DDG.  I noted years ago on the site that they wouldn't release it, stating that it was proprietary.  I understand that, but I think an active ingredient should be disclosed to the public.  I know others on BIC had voiced the same issue about this product.  Since I don't know how much was in there, it's harder to find an equivalent.    (Side note: I know there's a lot of talk about clean beauty, but I'm much more interested in issues like this.)

@greeneyedgirl107  I don’t notice a smell at all with the eye serum. The new formula of the Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Advanced Retinol + Ferulic Texture Renewal Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL and Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Advanced Retinol + Ferulic Overnight Wrinkle Treatment 1 oz/ 30 mL have the terrible smell. I do use the eye serum on my lids too. It is definitely frustrating that they won’t release the percentages.

@greeneyedgirl107 I haven’t noticed any sort of smell to it. It’s your fairly basic gel formula, nothing odd or off about it. I use it all around my eye, including eyelids and even between and above my brows. I’m also on my 3rd or 4th tube of the same FAB eye cream, they seem to work well together! No irritations. I don’t know the official concentration of retinol in either though.
