Monthly Favorites: July 2024 Edition!

What’s happening, BIC? 🌞 I hope you are all staying cool during this hot summer (unless you’re like some of us in the Bay Area, still bundled up in jackets 😉)! Summer seems to always make me want to refresh my beauty routine and experiment with new products. The warmer weather (and, depending on where I am, humidity!) pushes me towards lighter formulas, vibrant colors, and all the SPF! Every year I return to this mission of uncovering summer must-haves that keep me looking and feeling fresh while withstanding the summer sun.

Nécessaire Rosemary Shampoo for Thinning Hair

Nécessaire Rosemary conditioner for Thinning Hair

My scalp feels healthier with these two. The dry flakes around my hairline are gone. The skin feels smoother. The shampoo smell is a refreshing strong rosemary, the conditioner is slightly sweeter, delicious, but still rosemary. I think this is great for the scalp and for summer. In the cooler months this may not be enough moisture for the ends of my hair. We shall see

Salt & Stone Bergamot & Hinoki Refillable Body Wash with Niacinamide + Probiotic

This is cleans thoroughly and is non-drying. The scent is a lovely woodsy leafy green. It is not very strongly perfumed, but more scented than the Nécessaire body washes. I’m considering buying the body mist, because I love the scent but it doesn’t stay on the skin. There is a flaw unlocking the pump, but the way to fix it is written on the box. I hope they fix it in the future.

Valentino Donna Born in Roma Green Stravaganza

This is a sweet scent that works on me and I am so excited! It lasts a long time and goes on a journey. It starts quite strong with green sugary and juicy notes (maybe floral too), then vanilla and something woody softens it out before it becomes a skin scent that reminds me of lime and gummy worms. I sprayed this most days

Make Up For Ever Artist Color Pencil Longwear Lip Liner in Endless Cacao

I like the liner, it doesn’t go orange on my lips so it provides natural definition when I use it lightly and blend the edges. Plus it is not too dry or creamy- it’s comfortable and holds its own under the gloss. The brown with the bright pink makes a lovely summer rose

July favorites:

💜NEST New York Rose Noir & Oud Candle 2oz/57g  I have been enjoying this as one of a few candles I currently have in rotation. I got the votive size (it was a GWP actually), but even though it's small, it's still strongly scented and pretty long-lasting so far. I plan to pick this up in a larger size in the future.

💜FaceTory Soothin' Vibes Refreshing Body Serum - I was looking for a hydrating body serum to layer under my usual lotion, and got this from Amazon to try. I really like it and was planning to reorder, but unfortunately it seems like it may be discontinued (it's no longer available from Amazon or FaceTory direct, and had been marked down considerably before it sold out), which I am bummed about 😞

💜PATRICK TA Major Headlines Double-Take Crème & Powder Blush Duo She's That Girl  I am still experimenting with this blush, but I really like it so far. It's super pigmented and flattering, giving a beautiful flush. I am considering picking up one or two other colors as well.

💜Half Magic Baby Paw Blush Brush - I am in love with this brush, it's so dense yet so soft at the same time. It's like magic! 😂 It also seems to clean easily, which is definitely a plus. Plus, it's cute!

💜Rovectin Lotus Water Calming Sheet Mask - this is probably my favorite overall sheet mask of the ones I've tried. It's very soothing and feels great, while leaving my skin refreshed and super dewy. Having some of these masks on hand is a must for me!

💜Penhaligon's The Favourite perfume travel spray - this is a lovely soft, feminine floral musky scent, clean and fresh and pleasant. I will be picking up the full size for my collection at some point.

That’s a great way to think about it! Keeping track is so helpful sometimes when I get new products I will use those more often but keeping track is a great way to remember I still have many faves. That’s a great thought. 💕 @caitbird

This has been a great month for favorites.

Used together: 

COLOR WOW Color Security Shampoo 8.4 oz/ 250 mL 

COLOR WOW Mini Money Mask Deep Hydrating & Strengthening Hair Treatment 1.7 oz / 50 ml 

#COLOR WOW Curl Wow FLO-ETRY Vital Natural Serum 10 oz / 295 mL - This is Color Wow's leave-in conditioner. 

These are superb.  My hair was smooth after using it, even after it air-dried, and it was SHINY.  Not many products work well to give my dry hair shine.

And the curls- even with longer layers, I had curls.  Spirals even.  The next day, even though we curly girls don't always want to brush out our hair, I was able to and there were NO TANGLES.  Nothing I have tried has ever worked that well for me that way before.  And, less frizz than usual.

#Drunk Elephant Ceramighty™ AF Eye Cream with Ceramides 0.5 oz / 15 mL - I recently tried this for the first time, had a sample.  It is such a good eye moisturizer.  It does soften lines because it softens so well.  I would only use this at night though as it's a bit thick.

Lancome Lip Idole Butter whatever glow balm- Lancome won't tag for me.  Very moisturizing formula, and pretty shades that are easy to work with.  I imagine most would work for everyone.

RMS Beauty Lip Lights- not on Sephora, but these are very pretty, heavily tinted balms.  The best part- they smell like CAKE.  Not just vanilla, no fake buttercream scent, but literally what you would smell if you were baking a cake.  Not fake at all either.

@PrettyPaint   I don't willingly buy DE because of the price, and I really hated that name.  But, there are two items that I stand by: that eye cream and the Drunk Elephant Bora Barrier Rich Repair Cream with 6-Butterlipid Complex 1.69 oz / 50 mL .  Just an outstanding barrier cream, which soothes my skin so much it clears up redness.

@Ispend2much6 I don't think I've tried the repair cream either. I haven't purchased much from DE lately, mainly due to the price. Maybe next time they have a good sampler kit on sale, I can try some of these out!

@CookieGirl1  Seriously, my hair is still bouncy!  I think Color Wow direct and maybe Sephora have a mini size of it, and a lot of their products.

@Ispend2much6 Your favourites sound wonderful. I am so happy you found hair products that work well for your hair. I am going to add them to my loves. I am on a hair journey. I have been letting my curly hair air dry so they sound ideal. The RMS lippies sound amazing. Your description is tempting!
