Monthly Favorites: August 2023 Edition!

Monthly Faves: August 2023!Monthly Faves: August 2023!

Happy late summer, fellow BIC-ers! Team BIC was working remotely for the first half of the month (preparing to move into our new Sephora HQ!) so I bounced around a bit and enjoyed a change of scenery away from my typical desk setup. โœˆ Exploring new places is fun, but thereโ€™s something so comforting and satisfying about coming home and getting to settle back into my routine again. No shade to all our fave minis (we had so much fun during ourMajor Minis Challenge!), but thereโ€™s nothing quite like having access to all my full-size beauty must-haves from my home stash after a few days of being limited to the pared-down regimen Iโ€™ve managed to fit into my carry-on!

Here are the products Iโ€™ve been loving this August:

Re: Monthly Favorites: August 2023 Edition!

@eshoe, the Nest and YSL are both wonderful, and repeated repurchases as well.

Re: Monthly Favorites: August 2023 Edition!

Awesome favorites @itsfi !! Ive never heard of the Rhode serum?!?! WOULD LOVE TO HEAR MORE???? ๐Ÿ˜‚

Re: Monthly Favorites: August 2023 Edition!

@jaaayp, the Rhode Glazing Serum has a gel-like consistency - heavier than an essence, liquidy serum or emulsion, but lighter and less viscous than an ampoule. It feels refreshing and soft when applied. It has some great ingredients too - niacinamide (brightening, soothing), hyaluronic acid (hydrating), marula oil (moisturizing), and peptides (anti-aging). My skin feels hydrated and supple, with a healthy glow to it. My skin type ranges from combination (oily lower T-zone and jawline, dry cheeks and normal forehead) in the late spring to summer months and dry to very dry in the late fall to spring months, but it is dehydrated under the surface year round; sometimes very dehydrated. I've noticed my skin has been less dehydrated and less drysince I've been using the glazing serum. Both are a plus in my mind.

Re: Monthly Favorites: August 2023 Edition!

I'm definitely gonna look into this @itsfi! From the ingredient list, it sounds like theDior Capture Totale Le Sรฉrum Anti-Aging Serum 1 oz / 30 mL which I'm running out of but always trying to replace since it's $$$ thanks for sharing!! ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ

Re: Monthly Favorites: August 2023 Edition!

Ahhhh, Dior @jaaayp! ๐Ÿฅฐ Have loved their makeup for a long time. Iโ€™ve been a fan of their Dior Capture Dreamskin 1-Minute Mask 2.5 oz / 75 mL for years. Recently (last couple of years), Iโ€™ve indulged more in their skincare. I was lucky to have an opportunity to have a Dior facial and well, that did it! Rabbit hole, here I come โ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜‰

Re: Monthly Favorites: August 2023 Edition!

@itsfi do you recommend the Dior Capture Dreamskin 1-Minute Mask 2.5 oz / 75 mL ..........? Please say no so my wallet doesn't commit suicide ๐Ÿคฃ

Re: Monthly Favorites: August 2023 Edition!

So here's the thing @jaaayp, I wouldn't want your wallet to die but at the same time, I don't want to lie ... so maybe you should move your wallet out of ear shot before I give you my response ... ๐Ÿ˜…

It's really quite good jaaayp! Quick, easy & effective! Soft, smooth, lightly hydrated and brightened skin.

Just be aware, it does contain AHAs so if your skin is sensitive to that, you might want to avoid it (the original version included AHAs and BHAs). Otherwise, it is worth checking out.

Re: Monthly Favorites: August 2023 Edition!

My skin is so immuned to AHA, BHA, Retinol @itsfi its almost sad but thanks for letting me know!!! I am going to save it in my loves.... and who knows.. next month when that 20% hits....... ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคญ๐Ÿคญ๐Ÿคญ

Re: Monthly Favorites: August 2023 Edition!

@jaaayp, all her products are under $30. She also has a glazing milk - it looks to be similar to the LANEIGE Cream Skin Refillable Toner & Moisturizer with Ceramides and Peptides which I like, though the Rhode may be thinner. Iโ€™m planning on using that more in my routine when fall sweater weather makes its way here

Her moisturizer is no fuss, no muss, simple and effective. @ather is a big, big fan of her moisturizer. And she has several flavors of lip balm (theyโ€™re so good!) She now ships to Canada and the UK!

Re: Monthly Favorites: August 2023 Edition!

@jaaayp  omg you need to try Rhode. I am in love with all the products!! Like @itsfi  said I love the BRC moisturizer and dare I say she makes my fav lip balm! I mean salted caramel yum!

Re: Monthly Favorites: August 2023 Edition!

@ather @itsfi omg... why did I read this AFTER I placed a huge order today??? Ok, you guys literally sold me because I'm definitely putting Rhode on my black Fridays list because I literally just purchased an order for 2 new serums and 2 moisturizers and a mask and theres only so much i can slap on my face..... ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

P.S. @itsfi ..... I literally just bought the LANEIGE Cream Skin Refillable Toner & Moisturizer with Ceramides and Peptides ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Re: Monthly Favorites: August 2023 Edition!

Yeah @jaaayp, having just the one face is a major problem when it involves trying out all the skincare. ๐Ÿ˜…  I'm sure you picked up some good stuff so your skin will be happy, but yes, you should give Rhode a try. Black Friday  sounds like a great time to pick up some of her things, and by then, she may have released another product. @ather and I are not-so-secretly hoping for a cleanser so we're using that as motivation to work through our current cleanser supply - not that we have any clue when her new release will be or what it will be, but there's  nothing like wishful thinking to give you a nudge to work through products. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚

Ohhhh, I think you'll like the new Laneige cream-skin. This new formulation is thinner than the original version; it probably falls between the original cream skin toner and the mist version of it.

Re: Monthly Favorites: August 2023 Edition!

@itsfi  I actually saw another sneak peak of Rhode tonight. Looks like a tinted version of the lip treatments! Iโ€™m wondering if the strawberry one was going to drop along with the tinted ones from the one video I saw of her putting it on her cheeks but now Iโ€™m just so confused. If anything she is not predictable with her product launches. I was expecting way more skincare products by now. But seems like mostly balms have launched.

Re: Monthly Favorites: August 2023 Edition!

@ather, oooh, lip tints! We know I love lip tints.

If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say that her lip balms are easier to produce, market and distribute in the mrakets she's expanded into. Generally speaking, the formulation shouldn't change too much from flavor to flavor. The tints may have a slightly different formulation, but I suspect also very similar to the original flavors. Any new skincare launch, especially if she's thinking cleansers or SPF, may be more of a challenge now that she is in the US, Canada and the UK. Before launching her brand, she touted some cleansers with actives in them, which would likely be regulated differently in each of those 3 regions. Similarly, with sunscreen - different requirements and standards in each of those marketplaces.

Re: Monthly Favorites: August 2023 Edition!

@itsfi  Thatโ€™s actually a great point! I didnโ€™t think about it that way! I am excited for more lip balms that are tinted! But I really want more skincare!! Like a cleanser! Lol. Oh well I guess she needs time to figure it all out!

Re: Monthly Favorites: August 2023 Edition!

Completely hear ya @ather! Iโ€™m sure sheโ€™ll have a full skincare line at some point but we may have to wait for it. And wait we shall, all while sporting moisturized lips, sometimes tinted. ๐Ÿฅฐ

Re: Monthly Favorites: August 2023 Edition!

Considering it's been vetted by both you @itsfi and @ather , idk... I might pick up everything from the line if they're having a sale LOL also, you know what.. I picked up the LANEIGE Water Bank Blue Hyaluronic Revitalizing Toner 5.4 oz/ 160 mL because I really like their water bank line so I should definitely be picking up the rhode version of the cream-skin! What do you guys look for in a cleanser? ๐Ÿค” very, sincerely curious because I've tried quite a few like Glow Recipe Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser 5.41 oz/ 160 mL and Tatcha The Rice Wash Skin-Softening Cleanser and many others that are on the pricier side but I haven't really found anything that beats my cerave or Glossier Milky Jelly Gentle Gel Face Cleanser 6 oz / 177 mL. tips are appreciated!

Re: Monthly Favorites: August 2023 Edition!

@jaaayp  I know @itsfi @and I both talk about it all the time. But Iโ€™m hoping for Rhode to come out with a cleanser!!! I really like Tatcha The Rice Wash Skin-Softening Cleanser its so good. But I donโ€™t always want an exfoliating cleanser. I typically use Summer Fridays Super Amino Gel Cleanser 5.0 oz/ 150 mL  and The INKEY List Oat Cleansing Balm 5 oz/ 150 mL  but I just started using Tatcha The Indigo Cleansing Balm Moisturizing Makeup Remover 1.9 oz / 54 g  and omg it is the best!!! I also picked up The INKEY List Mini Fulvic Acid Brightening Cleanser 1.7 oz/ 50 mL but I havenโ€™t tried it yet! I havenโ€™t tried the glossier one or the glow recipes one but Iโ€™m sure all on your list are good!!! I just found the combo I was using seemed to work well and Iโ€™ve had fewer breakouts. What are you using now?

Re: Monthly Favorites: August 2023 Edition!

How would you describe your skin type @jaaayp? I have an idea of what I think it is based on the products youโ€™ve mentioned, but what type of skin would you say you have? @ather

Re: Monthly Favorites: August 2023 Edition!

@itsfi @jaaayp  I would definitely say combo in the summer and dry in the winter or cooler months. In the summer my T zone gets oily but the rest of my face would usually be fine. But in the winter I am dry all over. I am hoping my solid skincare regimen I keep keep the dry patches to a minimum

Re: Monthly Favorites: August 2023 Edition!

Combo/oily during the summer and then dry/combo during the winter @itsfi ๐Ÿ˜• I'm definitely dehydrated so I try to use moisturizing/gentle cleansers.
