Monthly Favorites: August 2022 Edition!

Happy August, Beauty Insider Community! I hope you’re all soaking up the final rays of summer (though here in San Francisco, our summer is just starting 😜) and putting that SPF to good use. As for me, I’ve been spending the month getting friendly with some brand-new (and in some cases, just new-to-me) products that have become fast favorites! I’ve been giving my claw clip a break and letting my hair down (frizz-free!), testing some hydrating new skincare picks, and channeling fluffy brows and lush lashes. What about you, BIC? Have you been falling back in love with some old favorites, or getting your hands on as much summer newness as possible? Let’s talk August faves!

@heartsmyface  The Color Wow has no scent and is literally the texture of water.  But it does something to my hair, helps my curls be curly again.

@Ispend2much6 @How do you use it? I have it and have used it a few times, but it says it needs to be heat activated which I usually don’t do when I leave my hair curly

@Kim888  Color Wow does make a curly hair version, but I've never used it.  I just spray this on my hair when it's still damp, after my leave-in conditioners and curl cream, if I use them.  Then, I let my hair air dry.

I used this Saturday a.m., then curled my top layer that doesn't curl anymore due to being bleached.  Then I sprayed it with Oribe Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray 8.5 oz/ 300mL  and fluffed out the curls with my fingers, then used  Oribe Superfine Hair Spray 9 oz/ 300mL  and I still have waves today, Monday.

My favorites this month are mostly skincare.   

I am stunned at how good my skin has been since starting the Fresh Tea Elixir!  My normally alright but aging skin feels noticeably firmer and bouncy after just a few weeks and that’s after a lifetime of pretty dedicated skincare.  I am praying this product is a Fresh staple and that it doesn’t disappear in a year.  The temptation to buy a backup right now just in case is very strong.  

Another serum on my favs list is Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance serum.  I got a little sun damage camping earlier this summer so have been fading some shoulder freckling and this has been absolutely fantastic!  It’s lightweight and milky but packs a skin tone evening and freckle fading punch!  

I’ve been using the Lawless Forget the Filler Overnight Lip Plumping Mask as a lip balm all month.  It’s wonderfully fruity scented and  lightly cooling without being minty.  My lips have been pretty happy with it so I haven’t been reaching for my other balms much.  

I’m very happy I powered through after bad experiences with the Lady Gaga power pigment (difficult to remove) and lip crayon (drying and patchy) and purchased the Haus Labs Bio Gel Powder Highlighter in Peach Quartz!!!  It’s glorious and such a perfect match for my skintone!!  The glitters may be a bit much for some but I love glitter and the color match is soooo perfect that it doesn’t glitter stun until I’m in bright light:). I own a lot of highlighter but have never had one that matched my skin so well!   plus there’s no powderiness!  It smooths right into my skin glitters and all!  What a treasure!! 

The Laneige  Hydro UV Defense sunscreen has been my holy grail all summer.  I’m in need of another:). It mixes well with my foundation and makes a great tinted moisturizer;).

@heartsmyface, that highlighter is gorgeous. I've been debating over that shade or the sunstone one, or both (even though I don't need both; I probably don't really need one, either. Hahaha!) Peach Quartz looks made for you! That's some good praise for the Fresh Tea Elixir. I hadn't planned on breaking out my promo gwp of it for another month or so, but I feel like I may now need to make it part of my weekend skincare routine.

That Laneige sunscreen is truly holy grail, @heartsmyface!! That highlighter is so pretty!!

I have spent the month trying lots of new skincare items that have also been fast favourites!!! 

#SEPHORA COLLECTION Ultra Glow Serum: Glow + Strengthen Vitamin C Serum 30 ml/ 1.01 fl oz  

I had super low expectations but this is becoming my fav!

TOM FORD Soleil Blanc Shimmering Body Oil  literally smells like summer

Summer Fridays Sheer Skin Tint with Hyaluronic Acid + Squalane  is definitely the foundation I am reaching for!!

Rhode glaze is the best serum I have tried. I love how it makes my skin feel!

Rhode peptide lip balm is perfect for summer. Super hydrating and the watermelon slice scent is so yummy.

@ather, I don't even know where to begin with these fabulous favorites! Huge yes to the Rhode Beauty goodies - they're phenomenal. I'm in total agreement with you about the serum and watermelon peptide lip balm - sooooo good! 💖 I've been rationing mine so I have it to use when the weather cools here. I would ordinarily just pick up more but my word, the restock was gone in minutes. *poof! 

Oh, you love that SF tint, eh? Do you think the online descriptions of the shades are accurate? I feel like a blend of two of the shades would best suit me and can't figure out which one of the two would be the better choice. Always my dilemma it seems. I may see if they become available in store soon so I can see them up close.

@ather I'm using the TOM FORD Soleil Blanc Shimmering Body Oil a ton too!  It was so kind of @TeamBIC to gift it to us and when we received it I had no idea how much I'd end up enjoying it 😁.

@ather  Sephora Collection items have been real winners lately!!  The dark spot serum is so good as is their cleansing balm!   I don’t even think I saw this one but imm off to investigate!  

Rhode is a new-to-me brand.  off to look that up as well.
