I don't color my hair for that reason. My naturally dry hair just can't take it unfortunately. You could considerate switching to a depositing color as opposed to a color that lifts to alleviate some of the stress off your hair.
I just picked up a #OLAPLEX - Olaplex Hair Perfector No. 3bbecause everyone in the office kept raving about the reparative properties. I'm going to try it as soon as I take out my box braids.
If you're often in the sun or harsh environments (Winter, depending on where you live) you should be protecting your hair with spfs and sealing in moisture with the LOC or LCO methods (look them up). ALTERNA Haircare CAVIAR Anti-Aging® Replenishing Moisture CC Cream 5.1 oz / 150 mLis a great all-in-one for most hair types.
Gift recs for people with skin that freaks out to any sort of moisturizer :(, but needs hydration to stop skin from over producing oils and breaking out?
There's no secret formula to predict how someone's skin will react to a product. I would hit them with a gift card and book them a slot in a Skincare Beauty Class. They're free and they can experiment with what they like before they purchase.
You can also bump up their gift card to $75 and book them a Perk facial if its available at a location near you.
@BusyBeautyBee so this is a tricky situation as it will be a personal journey they need to do of trying products out slowly to see what is compatible with there skin. but agreed that oily skin needs hydration or it will over produce oil and lead to breakouts usually. so first lets discuss a major thing , they should start by introducing any moisturizer to their face at night after washing and before bed, this is when our skin is in reparative mode and most likely to not 'react' to a skincare product. that said JOSIE MARAN - Soul Sisters Pure Argan Hydration Duois a great start gift. organ oil is an excellent natural hydrator that mimics our own skin , so often it works wonders for oil skin because it balances the oil production , but it is also great for acne prone skin because it has natural blemish fighting properties. happy holidays!!!

@Lys333 i agree that soft glam pallet is so good!!! it sounds like you like a great neutral pallet with some fun pop shimmer tones ,here are some others i love that may peek your artistic interest SEPHORA COLLECTION - Sephora PRO New Nudes Palette- this is a large collection of nudes and some super flattering pinky rose tones, with a beautiful mix of matte shimmer and sparkle finishes!! BOBBI BROWN - Nude Drama Eyeshadow Palettes similar to soft glam and has a gorgeous selection of wearable shades , and the texture of the shadows is so smooth! SMASHBOX - Cover Shot: Eye Palettes - Petal Metalis sort of an unsung hero if you're into metallics, pinks, and good neutrals. It was originally released as part of Vlada's Petal Metal collection and its beautiful and super buttery.
I've been DYING to try the Moon Juice skincare products-- specifically the Exfoliating Acid Potion, but the idea of introducing acids to my skin sounds harsh and scary! Thoughts?
So same! because I have a bottle of it that I’ve been trying to fit into my routine. Acids are amazing for your skin and you shouldn’t be weary of them, there’s just an unfortunate association with harmful or harsh acids that aren’t the skincare kind.
Typically when you’re hearing about acids in Clean skincare products like Moon’s Juice Exfoliating Potion its referring to fruit/food acids or acids naturally in your body.
To overly simplify things glycolic acids are derived from sugar, lactic acid from milk, malic acid from apples, and salicylic is sometimes plant derived etc.
That tingle on your lips when you eat citrus food is a result of how naturally exfoliating these can be. They’re natural but powerful so do a patch test and then ease it into your routine. AHAs and BHAs are a huge part of most successful skincare routines.
You can patch test and then ease it into your routine until you're used to it. I've been using AHAs for about 15 years so my skin can pretty handle anything (except the sun).
@Livia07 don't forget that hyaluronic acid is one of the top hydrating ingredients in skincare and it is an acid. our skin when healthy should be slightly acidic in nature , so as long as its the correct acids it will be beneficial to your skin likely. the moon juice products in general are really lovely!!! happy holidays!!
What skincare products would you recommend for someone with very sensitive, yet acne prone skin?
For cleansing try Dr. Murad's Time Release Acne Cleanser; I promise it will be a game changer for you!
It touts a time-released salicyllic acid, that delivers a small dosage to you throughout the day. I love this, because it's a more gentle approach to using this ingredient; which, when used too aggressively can dry and irritate the skin, causing more problems.
Then the good doctors partners that with Silver Citrate, a POWERFUL anti-inflammatory! So it will sooth redness, irritation, and dull the pain slightly.
All of this in a wash that is so simple to use each morning. I'm telling you, I have turned so many clients on to this, and they have all responded with rave reviews!
It seems like this product was MADE for YOU! huh?
MURAD - Time Release Acne Cleanser
@StephyC86 i agree with myiesha that the sunday riley UFO line is awesome. but an alternative in case ( because everyones skin is different and react different ) is the Dr. Dennis Gross line. i have reactive sensitive skin and tho not prone to breakouts i did struggle with a serious cystic acne issue for a year when i started to try and find new skincare. some products just make my skin freak out or break out in better terms haha. i have personally found Dr. Dennis Gross's line to be one of the brands i can trust will have the least reaction on my skin. i recommend starting with the Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta® Universal Daily Peel Pads 30 Treatments + 5 Bonusthey also come in sentive varieties tho i didn't need them the universal was amazing!! they will start your skin on a journey of looking amazing !!! happy holidays!!
@DavidBD these DDG peels are a favourite of mine! I also started using the FIRST AID BEAUTY - Facial Radiance Padsaafter seeing you suggest them, both have been so helpful in keeping my skin clear and smooth! Thank you for all your awesome recommendations! ✨💖☺️
Sunday Riley’s entire UFO line is super efficient and nourishing. The oil is amazing and pretty much eliminates the chance of your skin drying out bc it seals in moisture as it works.

What do I get me friend who has REALLY fine curly hair? She's always complaining about finding frizz-taming products that don't weigh her fine strands down and I want to give her something that will stop her grief lol
